Today was Connie's choice day, we take turns in being the person who makes the days choices, saves lots of wasted time "where shall we go ????" .... "I don't mind" ...... "well I don't mind either" result is 20 mins later no decision has been made ?
So her choice was to go to Citadelle, which is a huge area of gardens and relaxation area overlooking the river. So we catch the bus as directed by the person who sells us the tickets, after 10 mins it feels like we should be there by now, so I ask the person next to me if we are near the stop ..... but it seems we are travelling in the direction ! So we get off and cros the road to get the correct bus ...... afenabout 10 mins it feels like we should be there by now, so I ask the person next to me if we are near the stop ......... several people start to look at our map and all give different opinions , but the obvious fact is we are travelling in the wrong direction AGAIN I kid you not ????
So we get off for
a second time, slightly miffed to put it mildly, and a young girl takes us in hand and walks us to the correct bus stop and literally puts us on the bus with EXACT names of the stop we need to get off at !!!!!!! and finally we arrive at our destination ?
We are following a street map as it's a 15 minute walk to the area we want, when a man that looks like Gandalf from Harry Potter and speaks like the policeman from Allo Allo ??? approaches us. He asks where we are looking for, we tell him Citadelle .... and he insists on walking with us to show us where it is......"I will accompany you" and accompany us he did, crossing roads, "turn right, turn left, up the hill" ...............he was telling us all about the area, we just couldn't shake him off, in the end we had to say we were going to look at a monument in the opposite direction and thanked him profusely for his help (??) and reluctantly he went on his merry way, it really was hysterical.
We walked a different route to avoid bumping into Gandalf/Policeman again, and
guess what ??? we missed the Citadelle all together !!! Much giggles ???? . So when we saw a tourist information centre it seemed prudent (I do love that word !) to go and ask for directions for the bus ride home, and while we were there we booked to go on a ghost tour tonight. When I said I hoped it would be very scarey, the guy said that he last person who booked said they would like to request it not be scarey !!!! Honest a god ...... it's a ghost tour ?♀️?♀️?♀️.
Just got back from the ghost tour ??? which was very entertaining as they usually are, our ghost was the wife of the local hangman, so she had lots of gruesome tales to tell about the exacutions that took place, by the French and the English. Apparently we were far more inventive and harsher than the French, we would treat anyone over the age of 7 as responsible for their actions and would hang children of that age !!! The hangman was such an unwanted job that it was usually offered to a person who was about to be hanged themselves, so it was
better to be hated by everyone than dead. The hangman would be paid twice the amount of a doctor, so he and his family had a very high standard of living but would be friendless.
Back home now, we are hiring a car tomorrow and moving to Beau-pre, which is in the countryside, and we are going to visit an Indian reservation village on the way. So all good ?
