Today's plan was to be a real tourist and see a few of the famous sights in Quebec City. One of them is the Ice Hotel. The Ice Hotel is located just north of Quebec City. Each winter they build a new hotel made of ice and snow, changing the layout, number of rooms and artwork in the ice and snow. Each spring the Ice Hotel melts and disappears. The cost of construction is about $3 million. It is approximately 35,000 sft.
There are 36 suites and rooms in the hotel. The suites have different themes based on the artwork inside them. The artwork in the ice and in he snow walls is pretty amazing. I guess people actually stay here overnight, but there is no heat so I'm guessing they are pretty bundled up when they go to bed. They have animal hides and down comforters on the beds to lie on. There are also 2 bars in the hotel. They serve drinks in ice glasses. They also have a wedding chapel and evidently a lot of people get married there. It was really interesting and beauftiful.

Oh mon dieu!
All that work for something that melts every year and you have to start over again fresh the next!! I guess I understand why the admission price is high. Wow.... It would be cool to work at this hotel for a season :) How do you think the housekeepers clean the place? Did you go down the slide?? I sure hope you did!
