Following three days hiking the Cabot Trail, I wanted to hike one more popular trail in Nova Scotia - Cape Split. The trail is described as moderately difficult, which it is. It could also be described as rustic, which it is. If you are looking for a polished, manicured trail this is not it. Roots are exposed, some wet areas, rocks in spots, and some lovely areas with just-the-right-amount of elevation change to add an element of challenge. Just the way a hiking trail should be. It is 4.8(8 Km) miles one way. It took me 100 minutes each way for a total hiking time of 3 hours and 20 minutes. The views at the tip are quite picturesque so allow yourself plenty of time to rest, take pictures, have a picnic, or all three. We spent about an hour enjoying the views given it was a lovely sunny day; although a tad windy which is undoubtedly characteristic. A worthwhile and enjoyable hike with the ocean views memorable. Recommended!
