I almost didn't recognize Vancouver when I looked out the window as my plane was about to land.
It was like seeing a place for the first time. It was so green! My previous visits were Winter and Spring so it was mostly brown and the trees were bare.
Summer completely transformed Canada. The weather was perfect. It was like a pleasant Spring day everyday. I loved the night markets. Although they were not like the night makets back home where it's actually dark. It was night market in broad daylight. How fascinating!
It was warm enough for me to wear shorts, flip flops and tank tops! Yet it wasn't humid so I never broke a sweat.
I went camping in Hope. It's a small town surrounded by mountains two hours drive away from Vancouver.
The sun sets at 9 PM so there were a lot of things that you can do throughout the day. The campsite was
not what I expected. It was mostly RVs instead of the tents that I was expecting. I guess that's what they call "Glamping"
I only had a tent. I asked my doctor in the Philippines
if he'd allow me to go hiking and he said no. I went hiking anyway
because the trails here are way easier than the trails back home. I did stop when the trail got too
narrow and difficult. The last thing I wanted was to break my leg again but this time alone in a mountain
with bears.
I went to a farm where I picked blueberries. It was nice and all but it wasn't easy. It wasn't much cheaper
than buying the fruits, but it was still a good experience. Blackberries can be found practically everywhere.
I pick them at the bus stops while waiting for the bus. Apples just fall on the ground. It was my first time to see apple trees with apples on them.
In this trip I really enjoyed seeing fruits attached to the plants and trees. Too bad I missed the cherries.
I went swimming at Lynn Canyon. Cliff diving is big there. People die every year. I only did the small jump 'coz I'm not that crazy, or brave.
There's a Facebook group for Vancouver activities where posted that I was going
to Lynn Canyon and would appreciate
some company. I travel solo a lot but sometimes I'm sick of it. One German guy went with me. Germans are everywhere and I now have enough German Facebook friends to represent every province of Germany.
Anyway, the water was still freezing! I was more afraid of the cold than jumping. Makes sense because even the the Philippines,
fresh water from the mountains is cold.
This was the height of Pokemon Go when it wasn't yet available in the Philippines. I downloaded and played
the game although I don't really like playing mobile games at all. I guess it did help a little because
it showed me things of interest that I may not have noticed in my previous visits. I've resigned to
the fact that I may never be able to move to Canada so I just have to satisfy myself with these visits.
Though part of me want to stop coming here because there's many other countries to see out there.
Airfare to Australia is less than thirty percent of return tickets to Canada. Half the amount can buy
me return tickets to Egypt or Turkey. So if I can help it, I wouldn't go here every year. Tough though 'coz I really love Canada. Although it's clear that I have no chance of moving here.

Can I Canada?
So your love affair with Canada continues, Harold. Exchanging Filipino white sand Christmases for Canadian white snow Christmases as a life choice? "Where there is a will there is a way", so the saying goes!
