A quick trip to Vancouver Island

Well yesterday we picked up a hire car and jumped on the ferry to Vancouver Island. We made a quick trip down to the lagoon near Fisgard Lighthouse for a spot of lunch, and then back into Victoria for an overnight stop. Today the weather took a turn for the better and we headed out of Victoria on Highway 1 up towards Nanaimo with a quick detour to Lake Cowichan. Lots of ideas for places to stay when we return to Vancouver Island next month. Back on a somewhat breezy ferry to Horseshoe Bay, and another quick detour into Lighthouse Park (admiring the pricey properties along the way). Lazy day planned for tomorrow, as we have some celebrating to do tomorrow night for Mr Smith's birthday (now that we have fully recovered from celebrating Mark birthday on Tuesday...)
