Travelling was a tad stressful. The Canadians did not recognise Kate's two attempts at applying for a VISA, so we travelled to Heathrow early to sort the problem. An enormous traffic jam outside Swindon added to the riding blood pressure!! A delightful BA lady spent 30 minutes sorting the problem out with the Canadian embassy, culminating with a smile and a nod. Our relief was compounded when the same lady upgraded us to business class, with access to the posh lounge and a bed on the plane?

Needless to say the flight was a delight!! We got to our airport hotel and not the sack immediately!!

What hits you about Calgary is the freshness of the air, there are no diesels here as it's too cold. After a substantive breakfast, including two coffee refills, we did the strolling around Calgary thing, camera in hand looking like a tourist!! We had tickets for the Tower and so did that. Interesting but you wouldn't want to pay.

Tomorrow we drive to Banff where snow is forecast!!
