The hike
Water, thank goodness, says Otis, the dog A very brisk morning!
Off to Banff to hike Sulpher Mountain. Lots of switchbacks. Went from 5200 ft. To 7484 ft, a total distance one way 5.5 km. The hike was moderate to strenuous, still not used to the elevation. Otis and I took our time and met some lovely folks along the way. Otis is such a trooper - he just keeps on going and going, and only laid down while I had lunch at the top. It started to rain on the trail - but as the natives say, “wait, the weather will change in about 5 minutes!” And it did! After a relaxing time on the mountain, headed down, and just around the 1st switchback going down, the most beautiful rainbow over Banff! Breath taking beautiful!
Went to the Hot Springs after the hikes! Felt wonderful, but did remind me of an oversize swimming pool/hot tub!
Took a back route back to the campground and finally saw Caribou! Their antlers were spectular! (I do find being in Banff and not really seeing any wild life!
A quiet night at the camp, with a wonderful cooked supper (so happy having the stove working again).
Tomorrow,
The hike
