Had a late start - slept in until 11 am! A very quiet campground!

After talking to one of the camp rangers, I headed up to Lake Louise where I spent almost ½ hour driving around to find a parking space! (lots and lots and lots of people). Hiked, walked leisurely up to the 6 Plains Glaciers. The hike started gently along Lake Louise. Quite a bit of switchbacks across the mountain. Forgot about the altitude! Kept running out of breath, needed to sit and rest...got to the tearoom in 2 hours. Met several people along the way, especially enjoyed talking to the couple from Ireland, as well as the gentleman from Atlanta, Georgia, who couldn't wait to get to the tearoom for his soup.

Saw 4 marmrats on the way up (finally some wild animals).

On the way down, we stopped at the Lake and put my feet into the water! Brisk! The temperature, was below 50 F. Mind you, Otis went in several times to cool off and grab a drink!

Got some groceries (very expensive) in Lake Louise and restocked my beer.

In the evening, after supper went to the interpretative show at the amphitheater about the history of mountaineering. Very interesting.

An early night! Going to head into Banff to the Sulpher Mountain and to the Hot Springs.

great pics
Hi Julia. These are great pics you are taking. I remember going to Lake Louise and taking the gondola (not hiking!) to the Tea Room oh so many many years ago. I remember the many squirrels too. Keep up the great reporting! MJ

armchair travelling ...
Hey Julia ... just wanted to say I've been following your blog and enjoying the entries and pictures. Good to be reminded of how gorgeous our country is ... and the weather shots are great. Sounds like you and Otis are having a wonderful time. He must be one tired dog at the end of each day - you too! Keep travelling safe and enjoying ... cheers, Kathy

mmmm...
Nice! You went to the tea house! Mel goes on and on about the chocolate cake and fresh bread... Those marmots are pretty hilarious, I like their whistle.
