Before I got into the shower this morning, I tried the scale as I noticed my face feels thinner and I have been eating very little. Yesterday it said 6 lbs were lost and I just wanted to verify. Then I realized that I had been reading the mark on the scale wrong because of the shadow. I have really lost about 8 lbs in two weeks!!! I checked a few times just to makes sure that I was not hallucinating, but yep - eight el bees. I am proud of myself. Of course, this has a lot to do with the fact that i am not drinking any alcohol and I am too much of a wuss to go into a few of the nearby eateries by myself, but whatever the reason, I am happy. If I can lose another 6 lbs in two weeks, I will be EXTREMELY happy. This two weeks just flew by, so I definitely think it's possible. I'm also going to try out the gym tomorrow morning.
Of course my taxi driver did not show up, but I found one I think I like better. I don't know why, but no one seemed to
be working hard today! There were a few head people out today and the rest of kind of chatted the day away. It's fun for a while, but it makes the day long. I was waiting to hear about some data and photos I still needed for my one report, which was supposed to be done today. But my Qatari comrade was waiting as well. I finally talked to him and he said he would send to me as soon as he got; I felt bad especially because they are working Sunday while our office is closed, so that is even more of a delay. If we didn't get it today, he would deal with the client so I would not have to as he's "built up a thick skin" over the last couple of years. Yep, I'm liking this guy in Qatar. It seems like they are kind of desperate for help there and the report I was given was a bit of a mess, so I feel like I could do some good there; this means, if they do send me there, as they have been hinting, I would not be entirely opposed except that apparently there is
nothing to do in Doha. We'll see I guess!
Zenah and I chatted off and on throughout the day as we were waiting for work to do; she made me (herself!) a turkey and cheese sandwich for lunch. Joevet and maybe Joselet and I are going to Dubai Mall tomorrow to shop for a dress for Saturday's work celebration (no alcohol and no entertainment, of course). Joselet told me that I came at a good time as now is one of the two times a year that they have huge sales everywhere! So, I may be buying a lot more than just a dress tomorrow.... Plus, the Burj Khalifa is located at the Dubai Mall, so I will definitely be playing the tourist!
I decided to take my food from The Golden Fork for the second night in a row. The girl recognized me and was significantly friendlier. This time I got the spicy chicken wings! You know me!!! I also love the price: it was 20 AED, which is like $7. The curry was even less yesterday. Crazy! I stopped at the supermarket, picked up a drink, a tiny little ice cream for dessert, and chips for
a snack later. So, my food through tomorrow cost me less than $12.
On the way from work, a woman on the shuttle pointed out to me what looked like a sandstorm. I think it is, though it just looks like Bakersfield on a nice day to me. (hahaha!) Seriously, I think it is a small sandstorm, and Silpa said she had noticed a sandstorm this morning, but didn't think this was one. Though maybe it's just the dust in the air settling. I don't - take a look at the pics and you decide! The pics were taken at 6:30.

HAHA! Referencing Bakersfield of all places while in Dubai! Gotta love it! Have fun shopping tomorrow, at least you'll have some girls there to help you pick a dress! As they know how you should dress for the shindig, you should be in good hands! :) Love and miss!!
