So I thought I may tell some more about the class I am currently taking. It is an intensive arabic language class taught my a native arabic speaker. Here is the link to the university's website: http://portal.yu.edu.jo/
So we are in class from about 8:3--3pm. We then have homework afterwards that can take awhile to do. The classes through the day are broken up between reading, writing, listening, speaking, and colloquial classes, which focus on the local dialect (particularly city of Irbid style). The listen classes consist of sitting and listen to recorded arabic stories from old news clips and such. This way we can learn to understand arabic media. In reading, we translate arabic texts and learn new vocab. In speaking, we just practice scenarios that could require arabic. So far we have practiced buy food in a grocery store, clothing at a store and then how to talk to a taxi. It is all very interesting. The taxi part helped this past weekend we in Amman. I think that is all the info I can think about with classes.
