Moving on Jordanian time has dominated my mentality. Everything that is planned could easily change at absolutely any moment. It's a wonderful lesson in patience. The presentations have been good although the turn out has been questionable. Already we have much intrest in students here who want to start a branch of Amnesty International. Great! As long as we change one perspective we've made a difference. We've also met some incredible people.
Last night we celebrated Jude (my Jordanian coyear)'s birthday at her house. Her mother made a traditional Jordanian sweet whose name I can't remember. It was made of orange cheese and cream cheese and combined savory and sweet in a weird way. It was very good though.
Tomorrow we hopefully go to the dead sea. It hasn't been hot at all yet but they say around the Dead Sea it is a lot. We'll have to see. It will nice to spend some time outside at the least.
After eating at Jude's house last night we were walking to find a taxi along a pretty nice Jordanian nieghborhood when we met up randomly with some of the students helping us with organization here. They invited us up to their appartment and we had a great discussion about the Jordanian royalty over a glass of Pepsi (or bipsi as they say as arabic has no p sound) which they drink a lot of here.... there's hardly any coca cola though!
Western brands are very prominent. I saw the largest KFC in my life! But it's all in Arabic so it still seems very foriegn. We are now seeing the rich side of Jordan... the develped side. Next week we will be working in refugee camps and in orphanages... the undeveloped side. The two extremes. Very interesting...

Missing you all! Hope everything is nice at home. This blog should have pictures soon...
Much Love,
Malia
