Where to start? Sometimes, plans never happen the way you expect, so I generally don't make plans because of this fact. I was supposed to be in Amman, but I am writing from Jerusalem. The flight over to Tel Aviv was uneventful...no crying babies , thank God. Of course, losing your passport and wallet 15 minutes before you're supposed to head to Dulles was an event unto itself. Yes, this happened, and yes, I found them, with the help of my two dear friends, Deanna and Maryam. I wouldn't be me if I didn't almost lose something....I lost something yesterday, but more on that later. I spoke with the passenger next to me, Johan, a Jewish man in his mid-thirties or so. I asked him questions about Israel and he obliged. He gave me his ... read more

Yes, yes, I know. Bad me. What? It's been three months? Four? Urg. Apologies. But I've been busy. For those of you who don't know, I am still at the Arava Institute, but now I am an intern here! I work for a part of the Institute called Ecopaths, they are the ones who arrange the famous Bike Ride every year from Jerusalem to Eilat. So I've been knee deep in Bike Ride business, as well as a Hike which will happen in two weeks (we are giving some help to this event run by the Heschel Center and Hazon). Anyways, if you are curious about the Bike Ride, you can check out the website: http://www.hazon.org/go.php?q=/rides/2007IL/pedalThePast_-_PreserveTheFuture.html Also... my dear friend Avi is coming all the way from Brookline to do the ride! Hurray! So if you ... read more

Hey yall! I just got back from the dead sea and the ein gedi desert. You should try to find it on a map. Its important to know your geography. If someone asked you where iraq was and you pointed to germany you would look like a fool.. think about it!! Any way, the dead sea was really nice! you can float without using your hands and the sea floor, instead of sand, is crystalized salt. Then we took a hike in the ein gedi desert. I know I always seem to tell you scary stories about terror attacks and deaths, but its really not that bad... it just happens. It happens in the USA too. Even more so with kidnappings, robberies, and murders in the USA than in Israel. On the contrary, I feel very ... read more
