As we headed out past the bay of Biscay, the seas became quite rough and there was a lot of movement on the ship. Our cabin is quite close to the front so we could feel every wave and swell. At times a little unnerving as we could hear all sorts of unusual noises from the ship, last year's transatlantic crossing was as smooth as crossing a lake so this was quite a new experience.
Laying down in bed I felt fine but when I started to move around the cabin to get ready a wave of seasickness hit me. Severe turbulence on an aircraft doesn't bother me in the slightest in fact I actually enjoy it but passenger seat or back seat of car or coach and I am not the best traveller, people who know me well will say it's more a control freak thing that I am not driving!
Anyway, Alex was swiftly despatched down to the gift shop to stock up on tablets and anything that may help. Our cabin steward Sigit, suggsted eating a green apple and toast so again Alex went on a mission of mercy.
Slice of toast, green apple, a
pill and a pair of pressure point bracelets later, I was up and at it, raring to go!
Spent the day exploring more of the ship and generally chilling.
We had an invitation to drinks in one of the luxury owners suites between 5pm and 7pm but we had sent all of Alex's shirts to be ironed yesterday, they were due back at 6pm at the latest but after some considerable chasing they didn't arrive until just after 6.30pm so we missed the drinks party!
So we were dressed and ready to go out a little early, we headed to the Sugarcane mojito bar to continue my sampling of the menu.
Much to Alex's horror, I put myself forward for the 'battle of the sexes' game and joined a team of four ladies battling a team of guys. The challenges comprised a paper plane making competition, some singing and a game where we had to pass an orange along the line using our chins, way too much close body contact with strangers for my liking but I did it for the team!
Unfortunately the guys won every round but we each received a NCL consolation
prize.
Had a lovely meal at Taste, tomato carpaccio for me followed by shrimp basil pasta, while Alex chose the potato and chorizo salad followed by beef. I resisted dessert but Alex couldn't resist the pecan pie.
Tonight was the 'Norwegian's Night Out' party night, one of the nights where people are encouraged to dress up, have photos with the captain and dance the night way.
Due to the late shirt palaver we missed the photos with the captain but had a great time partying and people watching until the early hours.
Got back to the stateroom to find the first towel animal of the trip, a cute penguin!
