Glad the first week was over and done with....going back to school is difficult and we have so much homework but at least I am understanding a bit more....and learning some great phrases. My one from today (Tuesday) is Bouche-toi!! I have to do a 10 minute presentation next week on any topic but we are not allowed to read from anything. Suggestions welcome as long as they are clean!

The school organises trips during the day and at weekends so the first for me to go on was a visit to the Chateaux de Menthon-Sainte-Bernard. Very beautiful and apparently used by Walt Disney in a lot of his recreations in themed parks. We were lucky enough to be shown around by the countess (although she did not tell us) and I sneeked a photo of the Count before he ran off to hide.

last weekend was a trip to Chamonix and we were so lucky with the weather as it was complete blue skies. Cant believe how different it was in the summer and how busy it was. We ended up taking the telcabin up to Brevent and walking down to the first station which took us about

That will be me....lovin it!!
an hour and a half as we were stopping to take photos all the time.

On Sunday we decided to go on a bike ride round the lake and couldn't have picked a more beautiful day. It was only 40km but we ended up doing 50km as we got a bit lost...I hear you shout how? There was a route we were following marked out for velos but with no directions. Stopped by the lakeside for lunch and a swim - the water is tres prop but also tres froid. Then the difficult part was a steep uphill climb. Gave up half way up as far too hot and not enough water with me.

Trying hard to find Mum and Dad somewhere to stay for next weekend. Have been into a couple of hotels but they are full. Tried one last night and I asked to see the room...have been told to go back tonight so have my fingers crossed. J'espere il y a la vue sur le lac et c'est a pres de chez moi et pas plus cher. Have now booked them into one - it is right next to the Chateaux and has views over the old town...quite basic but am sure they will like.

Really starting to get a feel for the place and I love it. Last night I just wondered around town on my own getting used to all the small roads and where everything is. Also speaking more and more French so that is helping but dont think I will be anywhere near good enough by the end of my stay.

ps - still not drinking, been for a run twice and trying to eat healthy but the food is so tempting.

your big sister
Hi there, glad to see that you are enjoying yourself and have been out and about, the photos look great. When you write in french, could you please translate for those of us who do not speak the language!!! Were you trying to top up the tan whilst riding your bike, if so why did you not have a bikini top on like Lina!?! Am sure that Mum and Dad will cope with slumbing it for a couple of nights, it will get them in good practice for when they visit me!! Only another week until the girls break up, we cannot wait as we are all tried now and ready for a holiday. Roy is off for a week too and we are trying to book somewhere up North for a few days. Enjoy your next weekend off, hope the weather continues to be kind for you. Looking forward to hearing all about it! Lots of love NicXXXXXXXXXX
