Anne Frank House
Waiting in line for 30min was def worth it! Well Amsterdam was interesting to say the lease. Glad we went but not our cup of tea...we ran into Emily's friend Matt from UofA and made him be our escort for the entire time that we were there. There were lots of guys and pretty much no girls in Amsterdam which made it kinda awkwards so we were really thankful that Matt was there to take us through town, see the notorious red light district, go the the Heiniken Factory, the I AMsterdam museum, and the Anne Frank House.
Our first day in Amsterdam was a difficult one...we checked into our hostel and when we went into our room we were horrified...six matresses on the floor, cigaretteburns on the comforters, and hair all over the place. Not to mention the creepy people sitting in the lobby staring at us and the weird pieces of artwork all over the walls. We instantly looked at eachother, about to cry and decided to hunt for a new place to stay. Luckily we found a nicer place to stay and felt safe for the next few nights until we left for Paris.
On our second to last day, we went to Madame Tussou's
Broast
Taste testing at the Heiniken factory!! famous Wax Museum where we looked at lots of celebrities and important Icons like Michael Jackson, Madona, the Pope, JFK, Obama and pretty much anybody that has anything to do with American popculture. Halfway through our tour, we step into a dark room that has signs that are saying "No pictures, heart conditioned and pregnant women, do not enter". As we are waiting we are all getting a weird feeling about the new part of the tour that we are about to experience. Kendall goes up to the two statues sitting in the entrance and looks at the realism in their wax features, but then as she looks in the eyes of one, his eyes move quickly and she yells "His eyes moved!!!" He then IMEDIATELY went for Emily who was screaming at the top of her longs "Leave me alone I have a heart condition! Stop! Stop! Stop!" The more she screamed the more the guy went after her until finally she ran away and took the Pregnant Women, Children, and Heart Conditioned Route around the corner. Kendall and Matt went through the rest of the "maze" trying to be brave, where it was basically a mini Knotts Scary
Farm, with people popping out at you in horrific outfits, bloody bodies laying all over the place, and lots of shouting and chasing after their visitors.
Getting OUT of Amsterdam was not that easy. We had to take four different trains, missed one, had a 2hr lay over at one station and had to sprint accross town with all of our luggage to make our next train at a different station in 15min. Needless to say, it was a stressful day but whenever we have stressful days, we find ourselves in constant laughter because we all know that ONLY US would be put in this situation.
