Rome put on her sunny face today, thankfully. We spent a lot of time going through the Vatican, including Michaelangelo's ceiling, which was brighter and more colourful than i thought it would be. We had a very knowledgable guide who made the waiting for lines to clear more interesting by telling us the history of some of the images and the messages behind them. We then went through St Peter's as well so we are churched out now.
We are off to Pompei tomorrow and maybe to dip a toe in the sea at Sorrento.
The train ride from Napoli to Sorrento was interesting as the train seemed to stop start quite a bit and some of the suburbs did not look like a place to break down as night was approaching. Piano di Sorrento where we are staying is lovely and we just had another authentic Italian meal including dessert and coffee. A very good thing we walked for hours today and will again tomorrow. ciao for now.
