so this morning we started at the cork gaol (jail) it was really pretty, which really shocked me. It was more of a castle than a jail as you will see. Apparently the architect was also the designer of UCC so that was a cool fact of knowledge. It was creepy though there were a bunch of fake people around in costume. And there was even a fake ghost that they put in this dark hallway. haha oh ireland!! we met up there with our gallway counterparts and it was really fun after going out with a few of them the night before. We are actually planning on going to visit them within a few weeks and they said they would show us around😊
We then headed over to the blarney castle. oh man it was GORGEOUS!! it was surrounded by acres and acres of beautiful land. The flowers here are just starting to pop and the trees are starting to gain their green so it was absolutely beautiful. I even managed to find a snowdrop flower (yes the magical one from stardust-props to anyone who knows which one im talking about!!) It also helped that it was just an
amazing day. The sun was out and it wasn't windy at all. If I had been around cork, I would have worn my sandals😊
Anyway we went up to the castle which wasn't actually as tall as I thought it would be but it once in it, it was high enough! We had to go up these narrow dark winding stairs and my claustrophobia was definitely flaring!! but once we got to the top it was all open and gorgeous. Then I had to lay on this mat and bow my back to reach the blarney stone. This old man held us and oh man it was a little scary!! I was seriously only held up by this guy and i was leaning backward kissing a stone on this really high castle. haha strange!! but i did it and i have a picture! So i have proof that I am supposed to have the gift of gab. we then went back down and went on a tour of the gardens. I definitely would have wanted to have a bit more time there cause it was just beautiful! It was a mix of forest and walking grounds and magic cave
dwellings. It even included this rock that looked like a witch, and of course i didn't take a picture of it 😞 (oh by the way- all the labels got screwed up on the pictures so some might seem strange)
we then went to eat at this local gourmet place. I had fish and chips and a apple crisp dessert. It was fabulous, man the meals of this weekend were some of the best i have had since getting here. And the most complete. I then was supposed to go to the gym but was too tired and decided to take a nap instead. I should have gone to mass as well but ran out of time 😞 I found a christian service though!! and wanted to try it out today but it conflicted with the tour. So I will try that out next week and let you all know if it is anything like our services back home.
i hope ye have a great sunday! talk to you soon 😊

St. Finbarr looks awesome!! I'm so jealous! And Jameson's looks really cool - now I really want to come visit! My dad's kissed the Blarney stone before! How exciting was that? I'm glad to see so many smiley pictures of you!
