April Fools Day

Yarmouth to Cowes – 9nm

A lovely little sail today, not much wind, but enough to push us along with just the heady. We weren’t in a rush and didn’t have far to go so were happy just to mosey along and enjoy the short trip. Got to Cowes, had a walk through town and then back to boat to do a few little jobs. Staying at Shephards Wharf. Love it. Has a great relaxed feel about it, not too expensive, and all the people we have met both in the little shops surrounding the area and the marina itself are just so friendly. Will certainly come back here. Nice BBQ on board as weather was lovely

Wind on the nose today if we head to Chichester, so a day in Cowes. Nice to get a few little jobs done and have time wandering around. Robin from Lake Yard was keen for us to catch up with some friends of his, so at 5:00pm we called up Martin and arranged to meet at his place. Martin and Laura live at Max’s museum. In fact they own the house which is an old sail loft that Laura’s grandfather bought back right after the war. They have converted a huge room into a museum for all the collections her Grandfather had. And what an amazing collection. They have a tiller from the royal yacht Britannia and it’s spar, a croquet set from Queen Elizabeth, stuff from Napolean and the most amazing piece….a dagger that belonged to Hitler, was given to Stalin and passed on to her Grandfather (Lord someone). Couldn’t believe we were in amongst all these treasures. And they were so relaxed about it all, this is so and so…this is something else…as if it were everyday stuff. Unbelieveable!!!!!
