Lake Yard Poole – Yarmouth Isle of Wight – 23nm

Early departure 0700, cold, crisp morning, in fact there was a light frost on the boat as we left. Brrr. Actually a lovely start to the morning, motoring out the harbour. Then there really was no wind, but we wanted to give the motor a good run anyway to ensure all was working properly. On the way we heard a Pan Pan call on the radio…someone was in distress. WE couldn’t hear the boat in distress but we could hear the coastguard speaking to them. They were drifting and needed assistance. Over the course of a couple of hours a lifeboat was deployed, in the meantime another vessel was standing close by in case. We saw them on AIS being towed away. It kept the day interesting anyway. Into Yarmouth just on lunch time, so enough time to do a few jobs, go for a walk through the town and have a bit of relax time as well. Late afternoon, the RNLI boat was called out and it was as the late afternoon sun was hitting the bright orange boat against the blue sky,…made for a beautiful photo. Then the sunset that night was stunning, so we went for another walk to enjoy the view
