Today started a bit earlier than the others as we thought we should really leave along with the others as on previous days we seemed to be watching everyone else leave as we sat down to breakfast! Drama in Rose Cottage started at around 7:20 when Alan couldn't find the room key! After breakfast and a bit of panic, he finally found it… On the window sill. Kirsty was a bit sleepy this morning as well as the story of the ghost of Drovers Inn was still fresh in her head.
After breakfast, we said our goodbyes to Murial and headed on our way for the 12 mile journey. About 200 yards down the road, Alan casually put his hands in his pockets and found something… His room key… Of we go, back to pay Murial a quick visit before getting on our way…again! It was here we noticed a sheep who clearly had an itchy bum. It was rubbing itself up and down against the fence. Yvette the vet to the rescue! She noticed the sheep had a fern stuck to its bum and kindly removed it... With use of a walking pole of course!
We were clearly suffering from the stress and strains of yesterday's gruelling trek… No singing, no dancing…just heads down and walking! iPods out and headphones in. It was cloudy which meant it was cool and pleasant. We made our way further into the highland hills and gradually started our ascent. The sun begin to burst through and the heat began to rise. Time for a wee break…coffee from a plastic cup from the bathroom of rose cottage ( those ones for rinsing your mouth) and some Pringles….oops…where are they? Alan pulled out the tube from his rucksack to reveal an empty container, with the contents spilled in his bag! Somehow they were all stacked together and we did manage to get them all back in one piece only for Kirsty to them drop the tube and spill them all…well 2 of them! Yvette was also chancing her luck at greeting the foreign walkers as they passed, saying bonjour and guten Morgan in hope of a response.
It was at this point that 2 ladies from our B&B arrived. They had been given the nickname hair bear bunch on account of the fact that not a brush
nor shampoo had clearly touched their heads in a while. Yorkie casually ask them for sun cream as apparently Princess is sensitive to sunlight… Factor 110 was graciously shared before we were on our way again.
Princess’s mum aka granny Annie had told the this was particularly busy path but we had yet to encounter fellow walkers today. But when we sat down for a Break, practically a full bus load casually strolled past us and yet again we were the stragglers. Soon after we set off again we came to a tunnel and decided to welcome everybody because it was good to see the, here. See attached video.

By now the sun was out and the heat was scorching…taps aff! Again we got the heads down and ploughed on up and down and over he hills until we came to our lunch stop. By this time we must have encountered the hair bear bunch 2 or 3 times more. Ibuprofen, paracetamol and tramadol were still the order of the day as we were all aching – Alan's knee had given way and he was hobbling like a pensioner with his two walking poles.
The heat was on and it was time for ice cream. We then came across a plunge pool in the river which apparently cures insanity but Bridget wasn't up for being cured. Instead we all took the shoes off and had a dip. The cold water on our feet was heavenly. Other walkeRS caught on to our idea and came down to join us. We were almost there. We walked through the trees past the lake when Robert the Bruce's sword is apparently hidden before finally making it into Tyndrum. Forget the hotel… Straight to the pub. Beers and ciders all round. Yvette felt right at home when a group of Yorkshire bikers rolled in. The group just couldn't resist a photo posing on the bikes. Princess and Wee Lamb came up with a new idea that will make them a fortune…'sare nae mare' foot socks made from sewing competed together – any volunteers to test it would be appreciated! After a fab chippy we headed to the next B and B where we were givens lovely coffee and flapjack in the conservatory. Another fantastic day has come to an end and we are getting ready to turn in for
he night. Keep watching for more updates!
