arighty, so I'm gonna do this in list form: overnight bus to Edinburgh, kinda rough, Layne had to sit next to this creepy guy who ate whenever he wasn't sleeping. he gave me the willies from the row ahead of me. Kinda slept, not really. Thought I was gonna get some major reading this weekend, didn't at all. Arrive in Edinburgh at 7:40 in the morning and go shopping which was a bad idea becuase I had to carry around everything I bought from then on. UG!! Went to this AMAZING thrift shop! SO much fun trying on allll sorts of clothes from every era. Got a jacket and a shirt. One of which is totally out of character for me, but I'm gonna branch out a bit :). Layne tries on everything in the store ... read more

The annual Edinburgh Festivals are regarded world wide as some of the best Europe has to offer in terms of film, literature and music. Every year it is estimated that the population of Edinburgh doubles as the city becomes one of the most vibrant places to be in all of Europe. However, despite this worldwide recognition, only a third of the visitors are locals which means many Britons are failing to take advantage of this fantastic short break opportunity available to them right on their doorstep. Starting in 1947, the Edinburgh Festival has grown into the largest festival in the world of its type. In 2004 there were an amazing 25,000 performances of 1,700 shows in over 230 venues across the city! To give an impression of how gigantic the festival really is, it would have ... read more

Edinburgh Castle Grandiose and has great views Cobblestone pathways. We had a slow start this morning. Grabbed some free brekkie and took our time just watching the latest breaking news on the bombings in London and chatting with a couple of people. Dee and I eventually took off first to the Haggis office to confirm our bookings for the bus and then headed towards Princes Park to check out the Homeless World Cup Footie matches that are happening in town but nobody was playing so we proceeded to the Edinburgh Castle to check it out. At Edinburgh Castle we caught the free tour and probably stuck to it for about 20 minutes before taking off on our own. It was quite an impressive castle with great views of the city. After exploring the castle and a ... read more

Scotland here we come We will see Hadrian’s Wall. And castle too! It is so nice having leisurely start times in the morning. I even wake up refreshed before the alarm goes off! Gotta love it. It’s off to Scotland today with many stops along the way. First stop at the top of a hill on a windy road (Kirkstone Pass - used in many commercials and is England’s highest road.) we’ve been on the last 20 minutes. We saw some spectacular views of Windermere and the area where we stayed last night. The piled stones making up the walls lining the roads are pretty cool. They take a lot of the stones on the mountains for making houses. Now we’re headed to Ull’s Water Lake…6 mile long lake. Next stop: Penrith. Hmm, I didn’t make ... read more

so i'm still here in edinburgh, i love it. there is so much to do here and i met some really cool people, so i'm pretty happy. I'm kinda sad though because i have to leave and get down to london, probably going to leave here tomorrow and head to manchester for a day and then london for a day. my flight to estonia is on july 21 at 645am. I met a couple of people who had flights outta london and they said that the security takes around 2-2 and a half hours to clear, good thing that i'm sleeping at the airport. So i guess that i won't be able to send pictures for a few more days because my camera is too old and no computers recognize it. I've almost filled my memory ... read more

Judd and I took a horrible night bus to Edinburgh at 11 pm Tuesday night, and got into Edinburgh around 7 or 8 am. It was rough. We took the shuttle to our hostel (15 minutes away, on the coast), where we couldn't check in yet, so we dropped off our stuff and headed back to the city. We walked along the Royal Mile up to Edinburgh Castle and walked around the castle for a while. Then we walked around the city a bunch, climbing up a rather large hill (Calton Hill) with an astronomy observatory and some other building on the top, and then climbed up the crags to Arthur's Seat in Holyrood Park that formed from the volcano Edinburgh is built upon. After that we called it a day and headed back to the ... read more

Just got here in Edinburgh and am definetly glad to be out of glasgow, first off it was really hot, not like san diego hot but like new york hot. I thought I was going to die. Anyway sleeping in the airport in dublin wasn't as bad as it was last time, I actually got some sleep. I ended up finding a hostel no problem in glasgow and then went about sightseeing, oh wait there is nothing to see. Pretty much spent the better part of two days hanging out in the park and trying to find stuff to do when I get to Edinburgh. I found the Celtic/Rangers thing to be pretty intense, kinda like Chargers and Raiders but on a whole different level. Most bars have signs that say no team colors and most ... read more

Our 3-day Isle of Skye tour was amazing! We had a great drive up there - sunny all the way so you could see the Highlands well and get some great pictures. Our tour guide/bus driver, Duncan, was quite a character. He should really be an actor (perhaps a new recruit for the Robin in the Hood Festival?). We made a number of stops on the drive up to relax, eat and take pictures. We stayed in the small village of Kylaken (spelling is probably wrong). The following day we went out and about on the island. We went to the town of Portree where, coincidently, there was a bagpipe festival! What are the chances of being in Scotland and actually getting to see a piping festival? We could only watch for about 30 minutes before ... read more

Hello once again, I am back! It has been a long bit of travelling and a lot of fun. I would love to tell you everying but too bad! Ha, you will have to ask me. You may be wondering what type of journal doesn't have anything in it and your right, I should tell you a couple of things to keep the hordes of people away from me with pitch forks demanding more, more. Right. Lets start of with Edingburg. I met my sister at the airport and dragged her around town, trying to keep her awake. That night we ended up doing the merchant ghost tour which was very neat. We were taken under the city into the vaults which were rather interesting. The guide was good and it was great fun. The next ... read more

With the arrival in the UK of “Crazy A”, Sal’s mum Ann, the new trio of “the A”, Sal and Mick decided that it was an apt time to visit and explore Scotland, where Sal’s dad Ian was born and raised. We woke on the morning of July the 7th to some horrible news: London had been the target of four coordinated terrorist bombings. As the day unfolded, the full extent of the horror that had taken place became apparent to us. However, being the intrepid travellers that we are, we decided that not even terrorists nor anarchists/anti-globalists/people who don’t wash very often (the Gleneagles summit was on in Scotland at the same moment) would prevent us from experiencing the world. We headed up the M1 and crossed the border at the famous Gretna Green, synonymous ... read more
