Folk who know me will testify that I am not a character that does things on a whim. The night before the A to Z of Dunbar however I had come up with the idea of using Sunny Dunny as a starting point for a couple of hours running along the coast. As my mind wondered, I started to consider if an alphabet would be possible. Within five minutes I had come up with 8 letters which was enough for me to switch on the laptop and indulge in some light planning. Dunbar would be the smallest town I had tried to alphabet and the initial route was around 21 miles. I thought it would be wise to do some revisions on route should they arise. Blessed with the famous Dunbar sunshine, I set out from ... read more

After coming off a golfing high at Kilspindie, the challenge of Dunbar would require a refocus. The Open Qualifying venue starts with back to bak Par-5's and a downhill Par-3 near the Clubhouse. After that, you move to the ocean side of the wall (another wall) and fire into a great Par-4...and on it goes with strong 3's, 4's and a lone 5 coming home. Out the par is 37 with 3, 5's and two, 3's. In, the par is 34 with no 5's, just strong 4's. Our host, Alec Ritchie, playing off 7, put on a show, out in 39 and back in 37. He realed John and I in on the last four holes where we went from 2 up to 1 down and it held. Mike and I both slipped back after our ... read more

It was around this time last year that I thought to myself that I hadn't really been anywhere in Britain. I had been to places like China, Dubai, Italy, but never had I really explored anywhere right under my nose in Britain. As a massive history geek, I had spent most of my younger years learning about the exciting past that Britain had lived through, and yet never decided to explore the places that these memories had been created in! So in July of last year, just after I graduated, I treated myself and my boyfriend to a trip to Edinburgh. I don't know what it was exactly that attracted me to Edinburgh exactly, but there was just a certain charm I had seen in the photos of it that I just wanted to see for ... read more
