Alex and I have just been for a week in sunny Largs, which is on the estuary of the River Clyde not too far from the Coopers in Glasgow. We stopped overnight on the way up, in the village of Tebay, to have a look at the River Lune,and then on to Glasgow where we caught up with Sophie, Tom, Martha and Jack. Then on to our Band B, a beautiful farmhouse in a quiet valley just outside Largs. We must have put on loads of weight, due to magnificent breakfasts! We walked along the prom, took the ferry across to the island of Cumbrae, and found lots of geocaches. Well, it would seem that I utterly failed on the blog my way around South America plan! Never mind. Life in Caracas all got a bit much and a bit mental over the last 6 months and writing about it like this didn't really occur to me...friends and family at home were freaking out enough as it is, I'd say. So, here I am, back in Blighty, about to start another new chapter. There's a song in Idina Menzel's new show (If/Then - saw it on Broadway - LOVED IT) called 'Always Starting Over'...fantastic lyrics. Heehee. Anyway. As part of my bid to make the most of Scotland while I'm here I spent the bank holiday in three different places. On Saturday I climbed Ben Lomond with my friend Corinna. It's a long time since I did any hill walking but, overall, I really enjoyed it. It was actually snowing when we got to the top, so we didn't stop long before heading back to the car. Ben Lomond is not far from Glasgow so you do get some city types meandering up, we spotted a group drinking budweiser was the climbed - don't think they made it to the top!
