Greetings from the land of sheep and rabbits! So far I've caused no traffic accidents (but those roundabouts are scary!) and seen some beautiful country. The broom grass is in full bloom. I've explored lots of cemeteries and photographed lots of old churches and other buildings. Yesterday I was at the Battle of Culloden historic site, where 1500 Scots lost their lives in a few minutes trying to route a very superior English force (maybe my rebellious streak is in my genes?) I also travelled the coastline from near Inverness to Banff (saw the Banff Springs Hotel again) and on to Fraserburgh. I've been to two Scout meetings and one Cub meeting here in Fyvie and Banff. Going to Pakistan the long way round-via Scotland! As we are homeless we are working for RSPB, our 3rd year and its good! Been doing lots of things -helping make new access track to bird hides including making and putting in signs and marking track with beautifully painted white rocks! Today has been really good-wearing steel toecapped waders,trecking over reed beds to a stand of willow that needed grubbing out. Had wonderful bonfire -and watched lots of birds in their own habitat! It is odd not being at school but we are coping! The VSO training sessions were very inspiring and it still seems ages before we will get to put it all into practice and we were envious of those flying off in September.
