Hello everyone I know its been a really long time since the last update but after my huge adventure in April i took some time to enjoy Glasgow as well as a week trip to Spain where I lounged on the beach and partyed the whole time! I will now give you all a quick update of my last 2 weeks! Now I am on my 1 month backpacking adventure with Carly and so far we have filled our time quiet well! She came into Glasgow on the same day I finished my exams (which all went well i think) then for the next few days we had the huge task of cleaning out my room, packing everything up, saying goodbyes to everyone, partying for the last times as well as getting her unstuck from my ... read more

hey guys, so after our early flight we dropped off our stuff at the hostel and then decided to check out the city. it seems like a pretty normal place if you are in the middle of the city centre... you don't really see any differences between that and some other european city until someone tells you the history of things that have happened. we basically just did a walking tour of everything and then took the public bus around to both the protestant and catholic neighbourhoods on either sides of the peace line. it was really interesting to see. we were pretty tired that night so we grabbed dinner and then went to bed. the next day we went to the giant's causeway on the northern coast which was amazing! that's why we stayed the ... read more

Woah. I have finally escaped Belfast (my blog may say I'm in Belfast, but I'm really in Glasgow). Sometimes I get stuck in places for a little longer than I intend to...like Belfast...for a week. When I first got to Belfast I was uneasy about the peace wall and the UDA and IRA grafitti everywhere(it's not really everywhere) and the really bad UFF murals...but after a while it seemed totally normal (no, it really didn't). Yea, I have no point here. Most of my time in Belfast was spent watching Donnie Darko and drinking lots of soup and Carlsberg with my pirate friend Kane-O. However while in Belfast, I was introduced to my new most favorite thing about Europe: the Eurovision Song Contest!!!! Each country in Europe (+Israel for whatever reason) has a song entry by ... read more

Well this weekend was my much anticipated St. Paddy’s weekend in Belfast, Northern Ireland and some Dublin. I left from Limerick on Thursday at 1400 and arrived in Dublin Busarus around 1900. I had to leave from there to catch a bus to the airport. The traffic was slow moving because of the heavy holiday season, but I made it on time. I left the airport with Fabi, Sean and Sean (from Madrid) and Maria (from Lurgan, near Belfast). Maria drove us from Dublin airport to Lurgan, outside Belfast, where she lives with her family. We stopped at a pub called the Courthouse on the way back to have our first official pint together in the North. The next morning, the Lavery’s made the four of us the most wonderful Irish breakfast of rashers, sausages, breads ... read more

I love that i've been in italy so long that once i got into belfast friday i felt like i was home. clearly there are a thousand differences between northern ireland and new jersey, but compared to the differences between new jersey and rome.. downtown belfast might as well have been my backyard. ok everyone. so i got into belfast international on friday and by some wonderful luck found my hostel and checked in with no hiccups at all. i immediately set out again for some good ole fashion wandering so that i could see the city before it got dark and buy some groceries. i ended up in a mall, at a starbucks. not exactly culture i was getting. but in my defense, everything in the city seemed to be leading to this massive shopping ... read more

Hey everyone! So, this weekend Butler (the organization I came over here with) organized a trip up North to the city of Belfast. We stayed for four nights and had a really good time. I met so many different kids and it gave us a chance to meet other Americans going to other schools in Ireland. The first day there I spent the day venturing around Belfast seeing its sights. I walked around the innercity a bit and then headed up to Queen's University, which is truly a gorgeous campus. I walked around a bit and was lucky to come across a gated park, which enclosed the campus Botanic Gardens. Absolutely brilliant! There was one place called the Palm House which was a giant greenhouse and held some of the most beautiful and interesting plants and ... read more

Ed: Well another weekend, another trip overseas... I love living so close to the continent! This time around we headed off to Belfast in Northern Ireland. It was our first cheap-airline experience, which wasn’t too bad. They are very strict on their check in time - and apparently we were only allowed in because the plane was delayed… despite the fact that we were an hour early! And I thought we were early for a change! It was also the first time we experienced the relaxed smoking laws in London - they have a ‘section’ at each gate for smokers, which is simply a space with a bit of tape around it so ALL the smoke goes everywhere... anyways… While I’m whinging about the English-way, I’d also like to mention how the check out guys at ... read more

Thursday morning Megan, Cassie and I got up well before dawn and with a few hours of sleep drug ourselves out to the bus stop to make sure we were on the first one to Termini. The moon was still out and shining behind the clouds. It was very cold out and had rained a lot the night before. Our bus got to Termini and we got on Metro A and settled in for a long ride to the end of the line. We had rediculously good timing waiting only a bit on the bus and 3 minutes on the subway. We got off the subway and found the buses for Ciampino airport - more good timing, the bus was just loading. We got to Ciampino and checked in and bought sandwhiches because by this point ... read more

My sister had never been overseas and really wanted to go. She told me that if I went with her, she would pay for the entire trip. She did not have to ask twice, Lol! She decided on London and so we went there for a few days. I told her that maybe since she had come so far, that we should visit another place nearby. We decided on a daytrip to Belfast. We found a great rate on Easyjet from Luton to Belfast and back. We had to wake up real early to get the bus to Luton but we managed. I liked the simple Luton airport and we had some breakfast at Burger King and browsed some shops before our flight. The Easyjet flight was quick and smooth. The 737-300 aircraft had us over ... read more
