Today was a travel day. We would leave our home in London, as that’s what The Balmoral House Hotel has become, and fly to Dublin to join our Ireland tour group. We were in no hurry as our flight wasn’t until 3:30, however we had to check out at 11:00.
I went to breakfast, not only to eat, but to say my goodbyes! I had bacon, toast, and coffee and took some pictures of our friends. Once back at the room we finished packing and headed down to check out!
A few years ago I met Israel Mora, an animator who has worked on Cats, The Lion King, The Mandalorian, and Prehistoric Planet. To my surprise he was standing in the office! I got a chance to Talk to him about his new projects…The Lion King 2 and Snow White. I’ll look forward to seeing them and watching for his name in the credits!
It’s always hard for me to say goodbye to Flavio as he has always treated us like we were so special! We said goodbye, hugged, took a picture and off we went to Paddington to take the Heathrow Express to the airport.
Once
we arrived we were too early to check in so we just sat and waited till we could check our bags and go Through security. We headed to The Aer Lingus lounge as we had a couple hour until our flight. There were all kinds of drinks and snacks but the one that surprised me was the Penn State Pretzels.
Once we boarded, Nanci took the seat by the window, I took the middle seat, and a very well dressed gentleman took the aisle seat. We spoke a few pleasantries and then we all went about passing time during the flight. It was a short flight, only about an hour and a half….much like flying to NYC from Pittsburgh. It didn’t take long before my row mate on my right dozed off…..not a problem, but he kept getting closer and closer in my space. I finally took a selfie with him…using my shoulder for his pillow! It’s probably the best selfie I’ve ever taken!! Lol
We arrived in Dublin and got through border control with no problems. We went to an ATM to get euros ( money used in Ireland). We went to the taxi stand to get
to our hotel. You’ve gotta love cabbies! They are full of info!! This one wanted to keep us healthy in Ireland. His secret… don’t eat or drink anything cold! There goes my ice cream. When I brought that up, he warned me to follow up with hot tea or hot coffee! He was just 35 but he wanted to help keep us old ladies healthy while traveling in his country!!
We ate a late dinner at the hotel restaurant, then headed to our room. Tomorrow we’d get to meet the people in our tour group. We’d have 6 days together traveling around Ireland.
Until tomorrow!
