We are Lavinia and Steve Burch. In May of 2008, we set out on a highly daunting 429km (268 miles) hike along the Pennine Way, the oldest and second longest national trail in Great Britain, to raise money for the charity - The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust (www.ectopic.org.uk/fundraising/?p=46), starting on Sunday 27 April 2008, after Lavinia very sadly nearly lost her life to an ectopic pregnancy in July 2007. The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust was established in 1998, in memory of Sophie Winter, who sadly lost her life due to a misdiagnosis of her ectopic pregnancy. Hiking the Great Wall of China

Hiking the Great Wall of China was absolutely magnificent.

It was absolutely freezing in the Longji Mountains. With winter just approaching, we had to wrap up in blankets overnight to keep warm.

Fraser Island, Australia

Lake Wabby, Fraser Island (the world's largest sand island), was absolutely stunning - although it was so hot, it made hiking around the island very hard work - but it was worth it!

We were impressed to come across this poisonous Cane frog hiding in a sandy burrow whilst making our way across the sand dunes.

Beach hiking - it was absolutely great! The only problem is that we wanted to constantly stop to soak in the sun and chill out on the amazing sandy beaches. We certainly made sure we took time to relax!

Wonderful Mountains - The Routeburn Track, New Zealand

New Zealand has some of the most stunning scenery in the world - this includes the scenery on The Routeburn Track. In New Zealand, they call hiking, tramping - so with such amazing scenery, we did lots of tramping!!

The Routeburn Track is one of the most famous hiking trails in New Zealand - it was so beautiful we quickly realised why.

Stunning Milford Track, New Zealand

Another stunning hiking trail in New Zealand is The Milford Track (often described as one of the finest trails in the world) - we hiked the track for 4 days in the wilderness carrying all of our belongings in a large backpack - our clothes, food, toiletries, cooking utensils, sleeping bags...it was hard going at first because our backpacks weighed so much - but it is one of the best hiking adventures we have had!
