I am now am in London and the best way I can describe it would be to compare to a clean New York, with random Egyptian architectural work, gothic work from Germany, French influenced roof tops, and a English charm that I don't know how to define into words. I could definitely see myself living here that is for sure.
The Tower of London was our first official tour in London and it did not disappoint. It is so much stuff going on there that its difficult for me to journal everything that I saw. The Tower Bridge was our next stop. It had some amazing views of London as well as translucent walkway at one part where you can see the traffic moving under you. Many people were too frightened to walk on the translucent walkway in fear of falling. It was a funny sight watching grown men hanging on for dear life on the guard rails of the bridge.
Later that night we went to a place known as the Ministry of Sound thanks to our IRC contact Dwhani. It was a nighttime club that was absolutely massive inside with three different rooms, all with different themes
of music being played. I danced most of the night and chilled outside for the last two hours. In terms of interacting with Londoners, this experience was invaluable. I met so many people that night on the dance floor, at the bar, or chilling outside under the canopy. I had some great conversation about American politics and universal morals. We had to stay until 3:30am (closing time) because a friend had complications picking his jacket up from the coat drop-off. There was also a little late night excitement when a group of guys starting fighting less than 10 feet in front of us. It was pretty intense and a bunch police came from out the woodworks to break it up, but at the end of the day everyone was safe and we have pretty good story to tell afterward.
Day 4 was a bit uneventful for me simply because I was exhausted from the previous night as well as the Westminister Abbey felt very gimmicky to me. I thought it was beautiful, however it did not have the magnificent feeling that I though it would and it was a bit to much of a history lesson for my personal taste,
but the Blue Badge tour guide was well-informed. Harrods's shopping center is a must see on the list. The amount of stores and variety in that place can Aww anyone. I loved it, though I couldn't afford anything from it.
Later that night we went out to a place called Hoxton, a bar located less than a mile from our flats and ended the night with a few good laughs, some English ale, and huge plate of free sweet potato fries because the bartender thought we were cool. Also random side thought, he gave us mayonnaise as a condiment for our dipping sauce. Interesting.
