The last days of London was spent lying in Greenwich park reflecting on the week. It was abruptly stopped by a dog sniffing my face and his owner barking his name to stop. The dog symbolized the ending of my trip, and the lush green grass of the park reminded me of the sweet memories I made this week. I closed the week out with a stop to the British Museum where I saw the Rosetta Stone. It was truly breathtaking, and a must see for anyone interested in African or linguistic history. Oh, how could I forget! I also got my a piercing on my ear lobe as a black diamond stud. I met some really cool people there and they were amazed by my southern accent. All in all, this trip has marked the ... read more

Day 5 was my favorite day. It started off with a proper English Breakfast at the restaurant in Russell Square park, followed by a tour in St. Paul's Cathedral. There was so many things that I liked about St. Paul's Cathedral. My favorite was probably the moving image artwork by Bill Viola. It represented the resilience of martyrs even in death. It was a beautiful representation of how my own faith has allowed me to endure. Next I went up to the dome room and meditated. It was just a self-reflecting experience for me. And lastly, I was able to participate in a religious service with a public communion at the end. Spiritually, I was refreshed after leaving St. Paul's Cathedral.Later that night I was able to watch Les Miserable at the Queen's Theater. I shared ... read more

I am now am in London and the best way I can describe it would be to compare to a clean New York, with random Egyptian architectural work, gothic work from Germany, French influenced roof tops, and a English charm that I don't know how to define into words. I could definitely see myself living here that is for sure. The Tower of London was our first official tour in London and it did not disappoint. It is so much stuff going on there that its difficult for me to journal everything that I saw. The Tower Bridge was our next stop. It had some amazing views of London as well as translucent walkway at one part where you can see the traffic moving under you. Many people were too frightened to walk on the translucent ... read more

Day 2 started off really early for me. I woke up around 6am from my "Privileged Room". No joke, my luck this trip was amazing. Andrew and I had lucked out and got an upgraded room that was way too fancy for two college students, but I was not complaining. I decided to do some exploring. It was nice to see the Oxford streets so empty. The masses of people often time detracted my view from the beauty of the city. I had grabbed an English breakfast, which I later found was not authentic after further exploring. Then I went to go get a haircut. The barber unfortunately was not able to cut my hair, but I appreciated his honesty. For Lunch we went to a place called Nandos. I was honestly disappointed by the meal ... read more

The last time I had been in a plane was in Richmond airport back in 2012 with my parents and sister; we were coming back from Orlando, Florida after spending a week in Disney World. And now, here I am, sitting aboard a British Airways double decker plane, casually sipping on Heineken and Red Wine, sitting beside some of the best friends a person could ask for, and geeking out to J.K. Rowling's Fantastic Beast movie as I head to England. The trip started off on a positive before we even landed, in fact, before we left Heathrow Airport I knew luck was on my side. More on that later, but I must first mention about how efficient and frankly easy the check in process was for getting into England. I had very little memory of ... read more
