So... I was having such a good time at home that I decided to call the airline and see if it was possible to change the dates of my return flight. At first hearing the quote, I thought this wouldn't be possible, but we had our currencies mixed up and I was delighted to hear that his quote to change the flight was in Hong Kong dollars and not British pounds - much more favourable!! So, I added four days to my trip to enjoy some more time in lively London.
I had a nice explorative day in London walking around, which is one of the best ways to view London. Crossing over bridges and putting pieces of this large city together. Nice things always pop up, like an unexpected viewpoint, a street market or an exhibition. I love the blue plaques around town too. They are attached to the outside walls of buildings and will reveal which famous person in history once stayed there or lived there or was born there etc.
I spent one afternoon in Windsor, organising the schedule around Olympic events of course! Windsor is a lovely town with nice buidlings and of course the
castle. It was a lovely place for a bit of shopping and a relax by the river. It is also just down the river from where the Olympic rowing events were taking place so there were lots of international team t-shirts around which was nice to see.
The very next day I went to a place called Henley-on-Thames which is a beautiful place to walk along by the river. As much as I love central London, it was also nice to go somewhere different and to be somewhere so peaceful and small. It was a perfect end to my UK trip, before I headed back to the busy bustle of Hong Kong!
