We left Adelaide on the 29th at 12.10. Had to fill in a entry form for our first stop over. We decided to fill in 2 forms as we were unsure if it should be Hong Kong or London.....well it was suppose to be China.....the man just looked at us and shook his head.....good start.
Killed 10hrs on the plane watching movies and eating watching movies and eating and eating. Fed at 4pm and then we had to put all the blinds down. Was nap time...Bit strange
Had a 2 hr wait at HongKong airport. Easy to kill time as it is huge. Had a smokers room. Guys in this smoked filled room puffing away.
Flight to London was about 12hrs. Was hoping to do a bit of sleeping and thats what it was bits and pieces. We were quite pleased to get of the plane. Its a long stretch
Got into Heathrow at about 6am. Very easy to find my way around. Dwayne met us and took us home via the tube. He told us when getting on the tube head straight for the first empty seat and sit....good advise the doors open and in everyone
goes.
We spent the first day sight seeing with jet lag but am glad that we did and didnt give into sleep. Went to the Borough Markets....Jamie Oliver does all his shopping there...What a great place. Then we did a hop on off bus tour. Big Ben....London Eye....London Bridge....Tower of London Westminister....on a boat down the Thames. We got home at about 7 that night buggered managed to stay up untill 9.30 then Dwayne gave us permission to go to bed. That in itself is an experience. We are on a blow up matteress and by about 4am Jacqui and I seem to wake up turn on the power and blow it up as like all air matteress they go down. then back to sleep. I love it. Its all part of the holiday
Day 2 Visited the Kensington Castle that has just been restored...Amazing the way the people lived They sure did and do live a life quite different to mine. Went and visited Portobello Road which is about 3miles long of fur coats jewllery clothes food silver ware....amazing stuff....The colour and people Found this tiny little cafe down a flight of stairs almost underneath the staircase.
Had a coffee and portugese custard tart..need to get that reciepe Karen. Its like a little community where they all know each other.
Day 3 Walked down to a small place not far from where Dwayne and Jules and had breakfast. Very quaint. Jule's sister Ruby put on a baby shower for Jules this afternoon so Dwayne dissapeared to a mates place and the flat was taken over by about 15 females all doing what females do at a baby shower. Ruby did a wonderful job in organising it all.
Tomorrow we head for our long walk. Fly to Biarritz then onto St Jean Paul. Spend the night there and start walking the following morning.
Late note...got to the airport and the French trafic controllers were on strike....so after sitting on a plane for 2 hrs then told the flight was cancelled a 3 hr wait in a line to get another flight or money back ...to be told next flight on saturday here is a piece of paper refund through the internet an expensive 1hr train ride back to London bought fish and chips and mushy pea's for Jacqui we ended back at Dwayne and Jules
at about 8.30
Today we head into Picadilly to get a train trip to Paris then change to Biaritz then train and bus to St Jean -Paul......All good fun !!!!!
