On the Train
Ojik and Haykuhi Day 8, Friday, May 12, 2006 On route to Paris.
We had Eurostar reservations at 5:00 or so in the morning. So we got home late around 2:30, by the time i layed down after packing it was 3:30. 4:30 AM up on my feet. Ovsig and gang were here to pick us up to go to Waterloo Station.
We got to the station, waited in a line through the doors and into the customs control they stamped my passport and we were off to the waiting lounge to board the train. We got onto the train car 15. There were 6 of us. Ungh. Hasmig, Ojik, Zepyur, Hayguhi, Ovsig (Sadgelik) and I. We had a table. Ovsig and I decided to teach Ojik and Hayguhi how to play Belot. Yes at 5:30 in the morning we played Belot on the train. Of course the 2:30 hour ride was filled with laughs.
We got to Paris, to the station waited in a line for a taxi. There were Vans so we asked what the charge would be to take us to our hotel. 80 Euros (rip off). So we took 2 taxis for
Moulin Rouge Day
We passed by it on our way to the hotel a total cost of 20 euros. But the Taxi's dropped us off at the wrong place. We had to walk a block. I dont want to start the trip out negative but these French people are on the face of this planet for themselves. If they were to drop off the face of the earth the only things missed would be their cheese and wine. So we got to the hotel it was 10 am French time and our rooms were not ready. We sat in the lobby for a bit. Then some of us went out to get some food. By the time we got back one of the 3 rooms were ready. So we set up a table and ate. Jambon (Ham) Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Cheese (Brie) and of course French Baquettes. I could say it was an excellent meal and good looking table.
We decided to take a nap before we hit the streets of Paris. Ojik and I were in one room. When we entered Room 15 it was warm in there so we opened the window. After about 45 minutes it got hotter so i woke up and it was so hot i swear it
was like a sauna. I looked at the heater and it was set to 30 degrees Celcius (no I am not crazy it was set to 30 about 80 degrees Farhenheit). I Lowered the temp thinking that the A/C would kick in. But to my suprise there was no A/C. I turned that damn thing off.
So at 2:00 PM we took bus number 31 to Avenue des Champs-Elysees, and arc de triumph. The bus dropped us off the Arc and we started to walk down the Ave. Eventually we sat down for a cold drink and snack. We order 4 Sodas (2 Regular and 2 Diet Cokes, 1 espresso, 4 Salads) Bill = 67.00 Euro plus. You are thinking what the hell? (or Worse) the Soft drinks cost 6 Euros each yes 6 Euros = to about 8.00 US Dollars. I took a pictures of the bill for all of you who are saying know way i want to see that. (see Photo of Coke with spoon, Don't ask why there is a spoon there, & the Bill). Once we saw the bill we ate the Ice that came in the cup and some even ate the lemon.
Our Hotel
Dont ask me where it is I will get you lost even with my sense of direction We were in Shock but were laughing so hard we attracted looks from the not so pleasent French people surrounding us.
We Sent Ungh Hasmig to the Hotel to rest. and then we continued on foot down Champs-Elysees. It was all familiar as i had been there 18 years ago. We walked through some what of park along side the road which caused Ojik and Ovsig to start coughing, itchy throat (Hay Fever symptoms) to the End where the Concorde is and the Louvre Museum starts.
We then went down the other side of the street and took a right at the museums towards Alexander the 3rd Bridge. There were Cows yes Cows some sort of Art exhibition or something everywhere. Some had the Turkish flag on them. We found out there were 156 total. 2 out of the three that we saw with Turkish Flags mysteriously were removed from the cows. They are no longer there!!! We looked the River Seine and then walked accross the bridge. We then decided to take bus number 83 which would supposedly take us back near the hotel. What a mistake. We got dropped off in a part of Paris which
Tomato
Washing the Veggies for Breakfast/Lunch none of us had been to. So we walked for atleast an hour and half to find the hotel. What we thought would take us 15 mintes took a lot longer.
So we got to hotel later than expected. Just enough time to take a breathe and then off to dinner. We went to nice restaurant down the street from the hotel. The Armenian working the front desk at the hotel for made reservation for us. So we go there was table for us when we got there. They literally had 2 people plus the chef working the restaurant. We got menus in French, with no explanation. The Waiter/owner didnt want to explain what the menu items were. We were getting flustered. Ovsik took her shoes off because her feet were itching, and the Base of the table was cold so she put her feet on the base of the table. We finally got the waiter/owner to give us attention. We ordered. 32 Euros for the entire meal Starter, Main Course and Desert.
The meal atleast mine was excellent. Balsamic Vinagrette Salad, Rib Eye steak, and Chocolate Mouse for Desert. It was mouth watering. But i don't know
Brunch
What a table. More things were added eventually how others meals tasted. Dinner was done. Back to the hotel with the aspirations of going out even though we could barely walk. Along the short walk back i stopped at the Bus Stop to use the low seats to stretch my legs. Ovsik followed. Then Ojik and Hayguhi joined the the party so i took a picture. After laughing a little bit more back to the hotel. We sat in the lobby. Then decided to goto bed not to go out. But we all got into the Pajamas and gathered in Ungh. Hasmig and Zepiurs room to wake them. It was a funny site to see. Ovsik started to tell Jokes.
We were in tears.
We finally got up and went to our own rooms. and Slept. Was it an eventfull DAY!!!
