Thanks everyone for the fab messages of lurve.
We had a wonderful day. Actually the last couple of days have been smashing!
Yesterday we were on our own to discover London so we checked out Trafalgar Square (and saw the Canadian Embassy- woot), saw the National Gallery and then meandered our way through Green park in search of Buckingham palace. To our shock and delight, just as we exited onto the streets a marching British band came towards us and proceeded to follow us down the street to the palace. We were quite bemused as their bearskin hats glinted in afternoon sunlight and their trumpets resounded through the English courtyard.
Next stop was Greenwich for some amazing Indian cuisine and overall sightseeing with our dear friend Rita. The village is a picturesque British town right across the Thames from London. There, we went to the old naval college, chapel and queens house. The dining hall had a painted ceiling which was absolutely mesmerizing. It reminded us of a more traditional/ "mature" version of what we imagined the Harry Potter dining hall to resemble.
The chapel was equally impressive and we couldn't believe that people live surrounded by
these amazing historic and beautiful buildings in their natural landscape.
Next Rita pulled us past the Queen's house and up the vertical like hill to the royal observatory! Sam and I were huffing and puffing our way to the veryyyy steep top while Rita was gallivanting along in front of us. That in itself was a sight to see.
at the top we reached the Greenwich Mean time line (the origin from which the world's time is devised) and sam and Larissa stood in two different time zones at the same time.
Rita took us back to her flat for high tea and once again we were astonished by her house build in 1865 with floor length windows and a lovely garden. We were served bunt cake in a remarkable china tea set and watched the afternoon tele while being entertained by this wonderful woman.
We took the train back to Andrew's and ended our day with fish n' chips in the shop down the road.
Today we went to the Courtald gallery which had some famous assortment of artwork...Then we stood in line because we desperately wanted to see a London show. We ended us getting
tickets for...Equus. The show starred Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter, for those who don't know) and Richard Griffiths. Then entire cast was incredible and the show was one of the best we've ever seen. It's hard to describe the way we felt after.
((Sam also wants me to add that Daniel Radcliffe had a scene of intense nudity. That's right : harry potter got naked. We will never watch Harry Potter again in the same way- he definitely is attempting to break out of his "child-actor" typecast)).
Beyond that little tidbit, the entire show was spectacular. There's not much else to say.
We visited the artsy area of Soho, went for decadent coffee/tea and cake and wandered through Covent Garden. We hopped on a double decker and had a delicious meal of Balti and Curry, which is a must while in London.
Because of our Harry Potter enthusiasm, Andrew took us to platform 9 3/4.
Tomorrow we are hoping to survive off bread and water so can afford to see a musical (Wicked??) and plan to hit up the nightlife of London.
Wow this is super long and we are super tired but we thought
Hogwarts Express?
notice how our trolley is halfway through the wall...:O we'd write a semi-novel as our days have been so awesome. We probably won't be able to write for awhile because we are leaving the free internet for Wales soon.
Keep in touch, tah-tah for now loves,
L&S
P.S. Go Sens Go!! (Andrew uploaded a video on youtube which amused him and we will attach. For those who do not know Skelly is joining us on his travels- this is his message to the Ottawa Sens.

Muggles after all...
So I guess you guys are Muggles after all. And after seeing Equus, aren't you maybe a bit glad of that? I have read extensive reviews of this show, and I think my jaw hit the floor when you said you saw it! Don't know if I'm jealous or.... Sounds like you cats are having a blast. Be well and have fun!
