Bright, sunny skies allowed some serious bucket-list ticking in London this week. Fae joined me for a stroll across the Millenium Bridge, a hike along the Thames on the Victoria Embankment, and a visit to Covent Garden - where I had my first Shake Shack burger, and buskers sang opera while we ate.
Unfortunately, Somerset House was closed for (three years!) renovations, so the Queen’s collection of impressionists will have to wait for another visit. This continues a rather discouraging streak of our showing up without gaining entry. ? (Our limited free time during the short and busy Paris tour was not sufficient for the long queues at the Louvre, the d’Orsay, or ascending Eiffel, though we saw plenty of other famous sights.) We consoled ourselves by visiting the National Portrait Gallery (and we even discovered their rooftop bar!)
Our step-trackers recorded more than six miles on our last joint day, topping previous records! Some pints in our Bloomsbury neighborhood pub and dinner at a Italian trattoria brought a tasty and satisfying end to our travels together. It was quite a whirlwind (East Anglia, Yorkshire, Scotland, the Lake District, Paris, and London!), but Fae seems to have enjoyed it

From the Victoria Embankment on the Thamesand learned how to navigate on this, her first ever trip to Europe.
I think she’s caught “the bug”...! ?
