Today was the day for the "Royal Day Out". This annual event is the opening of the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace to the general public while the Queen is on holiday in Scotland. Susan had put much time into planning our attending the palace "open house". "The Green Park Arch, which was originally erected in 1846 immediately opposite Hyde Park Corner, was removed to its present site at the W. end of Constitution Hill in 1883. Apsley House. Built in 1771-1778 for Baron Apsley. Home of the Dukes of Wellington from 1807 to 1947. The house is a museum today, showcasing the art collection and restored home of the 1st Duke of Wellington. 149 Piccadilly. "At Hyde Park Corner is Apsley House, the residence of the Duke of Wellington, which was built in 1785 for Earl Bathurst, Baron Apsley, Lord High Chancellor.
