The problem with stuff that is "just about ready to come out" is that you never know the quality or durability of something that has just come out. Going with an established product, especially when your friend will be away from civilization for considerable stretches of time, is what I recommend. While buying a lot of CF cards is not a great solution, it doesn't have to be too expensive. 10 256MB Sandisk CF cards will run you approx $650. That would store approximately 3500-4000 images - based on how I use my Canon Powershot A40 camera in "Fine" (medium lossy) format. 10,000 images is, in my opinion, somewhat unlikely to occur. Research from website: http://www.bitrot.de/bike_mexico.html Backpacking Tour: Mexico, Belize, Guatemala The tour took 10 days in August 2003. MEXICO 2.8. Merida is one of the two cities in Yucatan with a convenient international airport. (The other is Cancun, but that's a tourist ghetto.) I arrived in Merida late at night, and I didn't feel like exploring the bus system so I simply walked up to the taxi booth and had them deposit me at the Nomadas Hostel for 110 pesos. I like to begin tours like this in hostels because there are people there who can give recommendations and warnings. Sometimes there are people who go in ... read more

Our new temporary flat mate, Rob, moved into Leah’s room on Monday night. While we were chatting to him, I missed a phone call from NZ. I gave James a call back, and while I was talking to him I tried to multitask, and didn’t realised that I had stuck a red-ish top in with the rest of my whites (including my new top from Zara), with the washing machine set to a 90 Deg wash. So my clothes came out pink! After work on Tuesday, me and my new neighbour and work colleague, Carlo, went for a walk along the little canals in Little Venice, looking for somewhere to eat for dinner. Its a cute little area lined with canal boasts and little parks dotted along the edge. Unfortunately, we didn’t find anywhere to eat, ... read more
