Well the flights were okay. My first flight out of Little Rock could only carry 35 people and there was some weight limit as to how many bags the passengers could carry. Luckily I only had my laptop case and my backpack with my makeup, shoes, and a light jacket. So I got on free and clear. The lay over in Houston was quick and I boarded the plane, which was very nice. I was thoroughly impressed...but then i realized that i was in buisness first class so i had to high tail it out of there. I had an aisle seat. joy..it was hard to sleep but once i took some unisom i was out and landing before i knew it. I stood in line for what seemed like forever just to cross the UK ... read more

Verena writing: All of a sudden time is just flying. I moved out of my apartment in Berlin after fighting with the landlords over my deposit, saying goodbye to everyone in Berlin and moved back to my parents... yes, here we go again: hotel Mama :) After a few nice but not too relaxing days (saying goodbye to everyone and unpacking the Berlin boxes as well as packing the travel bags) I flew to the UK on 29th of March. Mum driving me to the airport in Cologne... although I am quite used to saying goodbye nowadays, its still sometimes hard leaving your loved ones behind. Spending the last few days before our flight to Bangkok in Brighton with Ian and his family where I started to become a cricket expert thanks to Ian's dad. Very ... read more

Winter is over. Thank (insert chosen deity) for that. Those of you who were unfortunate enough to talk to us during this time will know that nothing preoccupied us (me) more than getting some kind of insulation in our flat – glazing, curtains, plastic sheets, anything. It was freezing. Others tried to comfort us with tales of snot icicles in bed, but we were inconsolable: our place was an ice-box. What now, then? Double-digit temperatures, that’s what! Wooh! The view from the lounge gains more colours every day, and the number of layers we need to wear drops proportionately. I’ve never been so happy to welcome spring. This weekend was spent on our bicycles, tootling about Brighton and Hove wondering at how easy it is to get around, cars and pedestrians notwithstanding. Mon has taken a ... read more

Hello and welcome to possibly the most-infrequently updated blog... in the world. As you may be aware, we are living in the white-person's paradise that is Brighton (well, Hove, but close enough). Brightonians are all, without exception, convinced that they live in the coolest, most cosmopolitan town in the UK (London's not a town, man, it's a crazy place). This is always uttered by someone white and middle-class - no-one remotely dissimilar is ever in sight when you hear this. So, what then? Well, for one, there are marginally less chain-stores than you might find in other towns. Don't panic - you can still get your insanely cheap clothes at Primark, and the literary heaven that is WH Smith is there; but there isn't a Starbucks on every corner, and you can walk for a good ... read more

Hi there. We went to Brighton on Saturday & I thought you might like to see some pictures. It was a bit bright & sunny to take decent photos from all angles (very glarey - I really regretted not having my sunglasses), but at least it was a nice day in general :) A bit about Brighton: It was really awesome, apart from when we first arrived, the smog from London was still around & combined with the sun shining through, made everything bright white & totally impossible to see without sunglasses. It's about a 2 hour drive from London - not that far in distance, but if you saw London roads you would understand. Even main highways are small, narrow, one laned streets with heaps of traffic lights & endless traffic, so it takes quite ... read more
