And the day Phil has been waiting on is here . . Tank World Europe aka Bovington Tank Museum. After a truly fantastic breakfast at The Royal Oak it was off to Tank World. Philip and Marie had decided to go to Monkey World first but due to the drizzle (and my Phil's desire!!) we dropped them off on the way and headed there. There are no buses which go there which is really surprising. It appears if you don't have a car your only option is taxi's around here. Getting out ticket we found out they have a kids kind of hunt. There are stamps hidden in the collections for kids to find and if they find them all they get a prize at the end. Really cool idea. So in we went... It's actually ... read more

So what a day! What should have been a simple 2.5hr train ride London (Waterloo) to Wool, Dorset ended up a 4.5hr experience, with an hour delay at Waterloo due to points failure and then a train change at Southampton, with no one really knowing what was going on. Then after being told the train stopped at wool it wasn't going to, however the conductor Phil and train driver were amazing, organising a stop at Wool so we could get off. Above and beyond and we were very thankful. Quick 10 minute taxi to Bere Regis and then it got worse again. The Royal Oak Hotel wasn't open until 5pm (was just before 3pm when we arrived) and no phones were answered. Lovely neighbour put on the Facebook Village page about us and the response was ... read more

Droga z Londynu do Wareham zajęła nam 2 godziny i 40 minut. Autokar zatrzymał się na parkingu nad rzeką Frome. Mieliśmy tylko godzinę na zwiedzanie. Wareham to małe miasteczko położone w hrabstwie Dorset pomiędzy dwoma rzekami: Frome oraz Piddle or Trent. W ... read more

Wareham is a historic market town in the country of Dorset, which is accessible by the South Western Main Railway Line, which runs between London Waterloo and Weymouth. We stayed in Wareham at the beginning of May 2007 and visited Brownsea Island, Monkey Sanctuary, Corfe Castle, Swanage, and Jurassic Park near Lulworth Cove, as well as doing short treks around Wareham. North and South Street is on A351 road and the Quay is the centre of the town. There are a number of B&B hotels from economy to luxurious ones, restaurants, and convenience shops, original shops along the streets and off the streets. Numerous stalls selling local dairy products, vegetables, fish & seashells, and accessories etc are opened on the Quay on Thursdays and Saturdays. The street market was started in the 15th century, and it ... read more
