Near Boscastle anyway. Tomorrow we walk through Boscastle so that’s as close as the blog knows. Bude to Crackington Haven was meant to be a bit shorter and a bit easier but it did not feel it. Certainly we finished before 4 o’clock but the walk was quite tiring and quite demanding. It’s taken 2 icy-poles and a swim to recover. We are in the local pub but things are busy here, we’ e met other walkers who could not find accommodation here and have had to catch a bus and/or taxi out to find accommodation somewhere. We know we pay for the service and that the prices have risen considerably over the years but that service has been dependable and gives us much peace of mind. At the weekends we are free to roam Devon and Cornwall. This particular Saturday we decided to visit Boscastle. It is a small town much like most of them round these here parts. We went to the witch museum which we both found interesting and also disturbing as there were many witch hunts and trials during the 15th to 17th centuries, these were known as the 'burning times'. Pretty nasty stuff, torture was used to obtain confessions of being a witch. One of the many ways to do this was to strap them on a chair and weigh them against a bible, if they were lighter than the bible they were hung. My last epistle was written with us visiting Bath on our way down to Cornwall. I didn't write any more as it was getting a touch late at night and Terry was asleep and starting to snore. We broke our trip to the south west by stopping in Bath and visiting the main tourist site of the Roman Baths. We spent a couple of hours there and quite enjoyed ourselves. I've added a few photos that are no doubt pretty similar to those taken by most other tourists that visit Bath. Bath is known for its architecture, mostly Georgian, and so I dragged Terry for a walk through the city and up the main pedestrianised street.
