Musique en été - Kotaro Fukuma

In a completely different register compared to last Friday concert, I went to see Kotaro Fukuma. He is a pianist and tonight he was playing solo. Over the past few years he has won a lot of awards. I am not very familiar with the field but he seems that those were big awards. And I heard some people in the audience talking about him as being a virtuoso. Well, he actually plays extremely well. At some point, I found myself wondering 'How can he plays so many notes at the same time? He only has 10 fingers!'. I really like listening to the piano. Some piece can really tell a story and take you on a journey across mountains and dessert, through happiness and hardship.

Tonight, we listened to a contemporary piece, Musica Nara, written by Minako Tokuyama (very jazzy and fresh, perfect to start and get people in the mood), then two pieces by Chopin (Fantaisie-improptu op. 66 and Ballade n°1 in sol minor op.23). After a short break, he played a piece by Moussorgsky ‘Pictures at an exhibition'. This piece depict the mood of a viewer at an art exhibit as he goes from one painting to the other. I really enjoyed the theme of the music when he walk from one picture to the other. It was very jumpy and happy.

We were specifically asked not to take picture or videos during the performance so I didn't. But here is a link so you can have a feel of how he plays.

Geneva is great in summer. The city has a lot of concerts. And a lot of them are free. Tonight's one was not, but if you didn't mind standing, you could see the performance for only 10 francs. I think I will be able to go to many show this summer! I am looking forward to it!

Dans un registre complétement différent du concert de vendredi dernier, je suis allée voir Kotaro Fukama. C'est un pianiste et ce soir il jouait en solo. Depuis quelques années il a remporté pas mal de prix dans différentes compétitions. Alors moi, je n'y connais rien mais apparemment ça envoie du lourd. Il y a des gens qui parlaient de lui en le qualifiant de virtuose. Et en effet, il joue merveilleusement. A un moment je me suis même demandé ‘Mais comment fait-il pour jouer autant de notes à la fois ? Il n'a que 10 doigts !' J'aime beaucoup écouter du piano, certains morceaux arrivent vraiment à raconter une histoire et vous amène pour une épopée par monts et par vaux, où un instant de peine et remplacé par la joie.

Ce soir, on a ou écouter un morceau contemporain, Musica Nara, écrit par Minako Tokuyama (c'est un peu jazzy et très entrainant, juste parfait pour donner le ton et mettre les gens dans l'ambiance). Il fut suive par deux pièces de Chopin (Fantaisie-Impromptue op.66 et Ballade n°1 en sol mineur op.23). Après un court entracte, il a joué un morceau de Moussogksy ‘Tableaux d'une exposition'. Cette œuvre décrit les déambulations d'un visiteur dans un musée. J'ai vraiment le thème de la ‘promenade' c'est-à-dire du moment où il passe d'un tableau à un autre. Il était très dynamique et joyeux.

Au début du concert, on nous a spécifiquement demandé de ne prendre ni photo ni vidéo. Du coup, je me suis abstenue. Je vous mets quand même un lien si voulais écouter Kotaro jouer

&list=RDGXO2YIMVIZk#t=20. Cette vidéo (d'in concours) date de 3 ans, et ne reflète pas trop l'ambiance de ce soir. Il était bien plus décontracté, d'ailleurs pour changer l'atmosphère, il portait un costume blanc plutôt brillant.

Il me semble que je vais me régaler à Genève cet été. Il y a vraiment beaucoup de concert organisé en ville, et une grande partie sont gratuits. Ou bien comme ce soir, si cela ne vous dérange pas de rester debout, il ne vous en coutera que 10 francs Suisse. L'été va être chouette !
