Day 111: July 25 - LATVIA - Riga, SWITZERLAND - Geneva Accommodation: City Hostel, Geneva It was time to leave Latvia today, except my flight wasn't until 3:30pm. There was no strict checkout time so I set no alarm, and I had no key to hand in although there wasn't really a need for security in this hostel as the atmosphere was pretty friendly and trustworthy. I had another hangover this morning which was part of the reason why I didn’t get out of bed until 2pm. I almost freaked out at the time I had left to get to the airport, threw my things together and rushed outside to catch the bus to the airport. I missed the bus I was aiming for by mere seconds as I saw it going down the main street ... read more

Hey folks super quick update here. Internet in Switzerland is INSANELY expensive and being that this is going to be the last couple of weeks of my trip the budget cant deal with the $20 it would cost for an hour of internet to do a full update. Allright where was I? Oh yeah Florence! Last day there I was planning the rest of my trip and since I didnt catch the bus there I had to find the correct camping ground where the bus was going to pick me up the next day. After hitting up an internet cafe and the bus station to get the right directions I was going to do a dry run to make sure everything would work ok at 6am the next morning. Went to open the door to the ... read more

Camping with Cows in the Swiss Alps After leaving the hustle and bustle of a major city like Paris, during a major holiday like Bastille Day, we were ready for some peace and solitude. What better way to achieve this, than a remote hike & camping in the Swiss Alps? Plus it might ease the budget blowing that was becoming habit. We stopped for a few days in Geneve, France on the border of France and Switzerland (literally on the border, as we could watch the people cross and hear their conversations just outside our window). I won't say much about Geneve, not because there isn't much to recommend this lake-side city, but because we didn't stay long or do much while we were there, other than to plan our next leg. We did rent a ... read more

Top 10 Check List: *1. Being able to pronounce the various districts in Hong Kong, Tsim Tsa Tsui, Hung Hom, Mong Kok… and knowing how to get to the best 'coin cache' in HK. Learning to bargain at the wet markets of Hong Kong and only getting cheated as other locals do. *2. SCHOOLING in HONK KONG, and not freaking out when the teacher and students breakout in Cantonese! *3. Travelling through 6 provinces in China and now knowing where next I want to go in China, and being confident enough in my Mandarin to travel alone…amazing memories. Learning so much about the culture and people and history and economic frenzy … China is a growing giant and its good to understand what it needs for growth and what is stopping it from growth, and ... read more

Geneva, Switzerland was amazing!! I went to see the rose gardens, and found SO MUCH MORE! SO when I got into town I stumbled into the tourism office to get a map and find out where the spots on my aganda were. - The Parc de La Grange (home of the rose garden), the Jet de L'eau (big water spout), and the UN. The women gave me the map, and advised that I started at the bottom of this area as a parade would be coming through later and it would be very crowded and loud...in a tone that I would dispise such a thing. Out of curiousity I queried.."What type of parade" She replied, "our annual lake parade where you know, techno DJ's play on floats...." and as she saw my eyes light up- she ... read more

YEs yo heard me I completely lost my virginity!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHA! My Skydiving virginity. ONG Seriously the second best feeling in the world. so much fun. We were gonna bungee jump but that was only 785 feet, we got to jump out of the plane at 14 500 feet over the alps. A sight most will never see. What a adrenaline rush. I went tandem with this wicked australian divemaster named Mic Rogers. What a sik sik man. We had a free fall of 45 seconds and it was the best thing ever. We did the superman dive, we were spinning it was awesome. The best thing was the backflip out of the plane. Cannot explain how crazy it was jumping out of that plane. So we stayed at Balmers Herberage in Interlaken. what a cool hostel. ... read more

I can put it in one word in Hebrew: "hitbarbarnu". The day started fine with muesli for breakfast, and we started to walk to the village of Ferret. I was expecting a nice warm-up as Ferret was only 100m up the valley. Soon, however, the path started to climb and we discovered something was very wrong only after climbing over 200m. We were looking for the way down to Ferret that we saw below us in the valley. Soon there were many people behind us. Everybody made the same mistake (maybe because the signs were bad?) We found a narrow path down and soon enough there was another dilemma: signs that do not match the map and the book. Again there were lengthy discussions with the others, and eventually they all followed our decision to trust ... read more

We had planned to stay in Provence area for several days, but heat unbearable in Avignon and surrounding area. In high 90^s during the day with humidity 80% or higher. Didnt cool down much at night and with no fan or air conditioning in the RV was unbearable. On Tuesday we drove to Grenoble and spent the afternoon finding a Mailbox, Etc to ship home some items. Grenoble is a prettz city surrounded by beautiful mountains. Temperature much better in the day, but we could only get overflow location in the campground so right in the sun and although cooler, there was not a breath of a breeze that night. That was one of the longest nights we have ever spent and with almost no sleep. Just too hot. Got up early yesterday and headed further ... read more
