Hello and Happy New Year to everyone. We had a great time on new years eve as you'll see in the photos. We went to the staff accom and had a fondue and played sing star - it had to be done in the honour of the hooples !! We then went to the main square of verbier at 11.30 along with about 17000 other people for a massive outside party. No the photos aren't bad it was dumping it down with snow all night!! Everyone was drinking champagne out of bottles it was great. We didn't stay out too late though cos with all the snow we wanted to go snowboarding the next day which was epic there was loads of powder and the sky was bright blue and sunny. We were knackered by the ... read more

Hiya, well phil has finally had a day off to go snowbaording and guess what? high winds closed the whole of the verbier resort !!!!!! but undettered we set off for a gondala ride across the valley waited for the 1 bus an hour and then took a very old slow chair lift and a drag lift to go ride at Brusson. It took a while but he finally got some snow under his board so he was pleased. I of course have been when ever i feel like and spent a nice afternoon on the near by baby slope - which for all you visitors is very close and allows sledging and learners - though the sledging is suppost to be for the kids, but it's usually quiet later on in the afternoon. Hello everyone it's still snowing so i'm stranded drinking hot chocolate in a cafe. Phil is working hard to get the chalets up and running but we are hoping that he'll quieten down a little next week and we can actually go snowboarding. I've been out already and have a smashing bruise on the side of my knee to show for it - yes i am a liability but god knows who put the block of ice in the middle of the pile of snow?!?!? I'm going to post some more photos from the other day. None of us actually out on the snow yet but hopefully Sunday. Not much else to tell, hope you are all well and decorating your houses. Last weekend I headed back to Verbier for a holiday with a bunch of strangers (and English strangers at that)!!! How did this happen you ask? Well, last time I was in Verbier I started chatting with a couple staying at our chalet, Jackie and Dave. They ski at Verbier quite often, and had a trip planned for March. As it turned out, one of their crew couldn't make it, so they invited me to join them. Being keen to spend as much time at the snow as possible, I agreed. While I was a bit concerned about spending 5 days with a bunch of strangers, as it turned out, I needn't have worried - I had an awesome time!!! Everyone (3 other girls, plus Jackie and Dave) was really great - and they are not ... read more

Where to start describing my wonderful week in Switzerland? How about the very beginning, our arrival at the train station in Geneva where we gloried in the polite efficiency of the Swiss ticket-seller who sold us our tickets from Geneva to Le Chable? It was so nice to be back in Switzerland (my favorite foreign country) where everything runs like clockwork, people smile at you on the street, the trains run perfectly on time, and everything is wonderful. That's maybe a little idealistic, but Yazi and I were THAT glad to be back...it was a good way to start our trip! Verbier was getting snow the day we arrived (Monday Feb. 12) so we took the train around the lake and caught the Saint Bernard Express at Martigny to Le Chable, which is in the Val ... read more
