I visited Montreux, Switzerland from April 19 through the 25th this year. This visit brought back sweet memories. Montreux, part of the Vevey region, is one of the most beautiful place of Switzerland. It has it all: its breathtaking landscape, flowers, Alps, lake, jazz music and a particular commitment to enjoying life and people. Located in the flank of the Swiss Alps and an hour from the international city of Geneva by train, Montreux - part of the Swiss Riviera- offers a unique mix hard to find in Europe between lake and mountains and splendid microclimate. The uniqueness of the place couple with the diversity of activities and excursions, be it by bus, train or boat, and of culture, sports as well as entertainment allows each and everyone, no matter the age, to live a unique ... read more

Chateau du Chillon is a magnificent Chateau or castle built in the early Middle Ages. It is also the most preserved examples of this typ of architecture in the world. It is a castle on Lake Geneva slighly north of Montreux. It is maybe 2 kilometers from the city center. The walk is all along the city boardwalk, so, it is a wonderful walk to take. You can take a bus, but why bother. You can take a bus at home. Anyway, go for the walk, and you will see some cool sights, including the bronze statue of Freddie Mercury. I found it to be really a neat and fascinating place to visit. Going to a place like this makes you realize the Middle Ages and the old Europeans really had some cool stuff. We are ... read more

I have had an incredibly busy two weeks. Last weekend, I took a weekend trip to Munich with my friends Brandi and Chen. It was raining the whole time we were there, but we still got to experience a lot. After leaving our bags at the hotel, we took a metro directly to the city center. All around us was the Christopher Street festival. I guess it happens once every year in Munich and is a really big festival within the gay community. Thousands of people were packed into the city center to experience it. So, we did what any tourists would do and found the most outrageously dressed person to take a picture with. Then, we started exploring the city. We saw tons of cool architecture, including many churches, museums, etc. that I have since ... read more

Yesterday. the last day of the Euro-cup (wooh Spain), I had brunch at a café nearby with Mohamed and then took a day trip with him and his friend, Fatima, to Montreux--famed because of former residents Charlie Chaplain and Freddie Mercury from Queen (as can be seen by my sweet photo attached). Montreux was absolutely beautiful. We had lunch at a local Lebanese place (of course!) and then walked along the lake taking a couple photos. The ride was only about 45 minutes, so maybe ill have a chance to go back before leaving to discover more of the town. Fatima has a convertible, so I got quite the tan on the ride down and back. We went through Evion, France on our way home to get a different view more of the mountains. I got ... read more

Les Diablerets (The Devil!)...sounds so scary, but is anything but! Les Diablerets is a lovely Alpine village nestled in a Valley beneath the 3209m high glacier, Diablerets. The glacier has snow all year around for skiing, dog sledding and has an alpine coaster which drops you 1000m at the top. This ski community is about a 1.5 hour journey by train from our home in Lausanne, but it is actually quite close as the crow flies. Nate had a neuroscience conference, and the girls and I decided to tag along and play while he worked (poor daddy). The train ride itself was great. We took a traditional train about 20 minutes out of Lausanne and transferred to one of the little regional trains, which are precious! These little chug-chugs remind me of the "Little Engine That Could"...They ... read more
