Day 25

Wednesday 22nd April

Our fantastic record on track, we were up and out of the albergue by 8am. We walked the first 4km through crazy muddy tracks, stopping to have some breakfast in Colunga. Elisabeth also caught up with us there, and she continued to walk with us for the remainder of the day, which was filled with muddy bushbashing, and very muddy shoes at the end of the day as a reminder.

The albergue at Sebrayo was perhaps the most run-down we had experienced so far, but still provided us with a warm shower, a bed and a roof over our heads so no complaints.

The main news to come out of the day was our decision regarding the next stage of our walk. The route we have been walking so far, the Camino Norte, splits in the next few kilometres, with one route, the Camino Costal, continuing along the coast for a while longer, and the Camino Primitivo, cutting inland through quite a mountainous area. Never ones to take the easy option, we have all chosen to continue on the Camino Primitivo. While slightly

daunting, we are looking forward to the change in scenery and to get up in amongst the stunning mountains, especially as we have spent the last few weeks enjoying gorgeous coastal views.
