Day 19

Thursday 16th April

Once again, we left Dav in town to catch the bus while the rest of us headed on our way. The day was just gorgeous, with sunny skies and lovely temperatures, plus views of both ocean and snow capped mountains, making the walk almost a pleasure! About midday we ran into Kjetil and had a drink at a cafe with him. I had an Spanish style ice-coffee - literally a normal hot coffee poured over a glass of ice.... quite a literall translation of the name but wasn´t too bad!

We all walked into Comillas together at about 4pm, having walked for roughly 23km over about 6 to 7 hours (hard to estimate with stops, etc). Again Comillas was a lovely town, but again a very touisty spot, with Ben, Lauren and Kjetil getting stung about 3E per beer (normally about 1E)! See, another reason why I dont drink beer!

Dav, who had spent the afternoon soaking up the good weather on the beach (definately beats walking!), met us at the albergue, which was just gorgeous. It was originally an old jail,

but had been done up with polished wood and quite an airy feel. The actual bed area was in an attic-like space and was just lovely. We are loving the exposed wooded beams... perfect way of combining the old country wood feel with a more modern tough... definately taking note for when we start building our dream house.

The night was spent playing cards, having nibblies and drinking tinto verano with Kjetil and Elisabeth. Many laughs - great night.... until we tried to go to sleep that is! A group of 5 Spanish middle-aged men were also staying at the albergue, one of which was the absolute worst snorer we have every heard (´we´ being every other person staying there... we had a group consensus on the topic as we were all awake anyway) The noise was simply undescribable - a combination of the regular snore sounds at a multitude of different pitches, combined with the odd horse-blowing of lips and a few cat/devil hissing sounds. Simply amazing. So needless to say, everyone else got next to no sleep, even with earplugs, blankets over heads, etc. ... I am still in awe of just how bad it
