on the way up
It was a good week last week. School was pretty much the same as usual. We were still finishing up some Halloween stuff in some of my classes. Nothing too exciting ensued during the week. I was, however, excited that Obama won!
Friday night we just made dinner at home and watched a movie. Saturday morning we got up early and the secretary from our school, Lourdes, came and picked us up. We met our English teacher, David, and his brother and drove to the base of the mountain to hike. Puerta de Cerezo was the name of it, and it was right next to the tallest mountain in the providence of Cordoba. We parked the cars and started walking to the trail and we had to pass a goat farm on the way. There was a dead goat carcass and dogs eating it, that was a nice start haha. We got to the trail and all of the goats came out of their pen and started following us, one almost attacked Rachel, it was funny. It took us few hours to reach the point between the two mountains. We took a break for a little bit more than halfway up,

and lo and behold the goats found us again. We kept on trekking and after a few hours we finally made it to the top! We sat down on some rocks and we were about to have lunch when I heard a really weird noise, and I looked to my left and there was a big viper about a foot from me hissing at me. I jumped up so quick and ran. It scared me, which in turn scared everyone else. We walked up some more and found another spot to eat our lunch.
The trip down was much easier and of course we stumbled upon the goats again. We saw another goat carcass as well, not so pleasant. We finally made it to the bottom again, after about 6 hours in total. We went home and all fell asleep!
We joined a gym here in Priego and we have been going every day and they sponsored a party at a bar on Saturday night. We went and saw some of our trainers and instructors, as well as the owner of the gym. It was pretty fun, but there

were a lot of really young kids there because you only have to be 16 to get into bars. A teacher from Cecilia’s school met us and we went to a different bar for a little bit. Then we went home because we were all sore and exhausted.
Sunday we all slept in late and finally got up and went to the market it town. We bought lots of fresh fruit and veggies. They had clothing, blankets, food, jewelry, all sorts of random stuff for sale. The weather was beautiful and it was nice to just walk around in the sun. we bought some fresh bread and sat outside for a while. Then we came home and did some cleaning around the apartment and some relaxing.
Tomorrow starts another week!
