dessert in Cordoba
Last week we didn’t do much. Tuesday we had to go to Cordoba to go to the police station to fill out some information for our residence cards. We visited a synagogue from the 14th century, which was very tiny and not really worth visiting and the Alcazar, which is where the royal family used to live. We walked around the city and then took a bus home in the evening. The rest of the week was just the usual stuff, class every day and the gym
Friday night we just made dinner and watched a movie. I made meatballs with my moms yummy sauce recipe and mashed potatoes, it was a good meal! Saturday we met with some of the faculty from our school to go have paella. It was funny because on Friday Rachel simply asked Lourdes, the school secretary, where a good place to have paella was since we hadn’t had any yet since we have been in spain. Well she said she would like to come with us, and so did David, and then Sole, another teacher said she and her husband would also come… and it just

turned into a group! We went to a bar first that the vice principal’s brother owns and had a drink and a few tapas, and then we went to the restaurant for lunch. It was Cecilia, Rachel, myself, Sole and her husband, David, Lourdes, or principal and vp Maria Jose and Jose Maria , Guillermo and his friend Fernando, there were 11 of us in total. Sole had called ahead to make a reservation for us at a restaurant called Bar Pepe, and Pepe himself made us the paella and brought it to us. For those of you who don’t know, paella is a very traditional Spanish dish made with rice, saffron, vegetables and a lot of seafood in it like mussels, clams, squid, and chicken. It was really good and it was so much fun! We also got desserts, some people had cheesecake with raspberry sauce, Cecilia and I shared the house specialty which was a custard like dessert that had a cookie bottom and custard and chocolate pudding layers and nuts on top. It was delicious! People also had flan of course. After dessert we had tea or coffee,

some of the men with Bailey’s in the coffee.
From there we went to another bar for a drink. Our vice principal made us some mixed drinks and we listened to music and talked. It was such a fun day! We stayed there for a while and then they were going to another bar, but Cecilia was supposed to go out with her principal for tapas, so we went home. Rachel and I made dinner and then we got ready to go out.
The last bar that we went to was having a band play, so we decided we would go there. The band was pretty good and they played a lot of English music, ranging from Eric Clapton to the Beatles. It was pretty fun. We went to a new bar called Buddha, which ironically is owned by the man who gave us the free drinks last time we went out. We stayed there for a while and then went to a different bar where I started talking to some old people and we made friends. It was a very fun day!
Sunday we got up and ventured to the marked again and bought some fruits and vegetables. We
