" I believe it is impossible to be sure of anything" - Han Pei In our search for some cooler weather we are heading for the coast. Perhaps there will be some life there and we will see the sea for the first time this trip. Most holidays take the form of a few castles, the odd church, a monastery here or there and a bit of coastline with a train trip to the city thrown in. This one has not been normal. Perhaps we will have to wait until 2019 to get some normality back into our holidaying. We have set Silly Sat Nag to take us to Benicassim or Benny this or Benny that as I have always called them. Not on our radar we have in the past tried to avoid them like ... read more

Wednesday 10th – Thursday 25th November 2010 Onwards and southwards to Benicassim. A small low rise resort north of Castellon where a very well managed campsite is conveniently placed for the beach, town and supermarkets. We decide to book in for a fortnight and settle for a while. Whilst here we made good use of the heated indoor pool and activities offered by the onsite team including petanque, Spanish language and cookery lessons and for the boys origami and a movie night – Harry Potter. With an excellent beach and a 7km promenade being so close we also made daily use of these when schoolwork had been done walking and playing beach volley. Whilst here we decided to take the opportunity to change the van’s front tyres which although still legal would require replacement before our ... read more

We arrived in Benicassim slightly worse for wear, still feeling the affects of our massive night with the gang in Pamplona. Upon arrival at the Benicassim Festival campsite we were greeted by the most useless staff you could ever imagine. Trying to get directions to where the campervan section was, was like pulling teeth. Even the “information” booth had no idea. After many failed attempts at finding where we were to set up camp, we came across a security guard who finally knew what was going on. He pointed across the dry, baron, hot, dusty land to a wide open field and advised us that this is the campervan site. We had never seen a more desolate piece of land in our lives. Plant a few cactus and imagine tumbleweeds spinning over the ground and the ... read more

All is well in the small town of benicassim. We are spending our last full day checking train times and trying to get accomodation in Croatia. The last few days have been a mixture. Me and Laura queued at the Benicassim train station for 2 hours, then to be told that all the trains were fully booked.. This town just cannot handle a festival. Luckily for us we had some nice chaps behind us over hear our woes and they took pitty on us, they had tickets that they couldn´t use on the trains because they needed to get to Barcelona earlier, so they sold them to us! For cheaper than what they payed. fantastic. We had some lovely Sangria and enjoyed a night of the Kooks, Lauras first experience of being "on the shoulders" at ... read more

The past few days have just been spent by the beach and i must say i am getting rather sick of having sand in my knickers. i´m looking forward to moving inland next week. Last night me and Laura went along to the opening night at Benicassim, we went to go and see Scissor Sisters at 3am (all the main acts are on at this time, mental mental) For some strange reason we (Christopher Barrat, Anna, Sophie, Phil and Tim) all decided it would be good to be right at the front. It was! I´m not a big fan but their outfits were glittery and i liked that. Afterwards we boogied down in a tent where i think the dj was the guy from the night club trash (thats what we were told anyway) We walked ... read more
