Luzia and Thomas
Saying .goodbye and "Buen Camino" The day started out grey again. After saying goodbye to our new friends at La Perla Negra, Luzia, Phil and I set out for the day; hoping that the weather would hold out so that we could make up some mileage. We encountered a bit of rain, but noting like the day before. The hike today was relatively "flat" today which, in Spain, means no huge climbs like in previous days!
We passed through a few small towns, bumping into fellow "pilgims" that we had met on previous days. We continued on to Los Arcos where we found a fantastic cafe in the town square. I must say the the coffee in Spain is AMAZING and very reasonably priced ($1.50/cup) and made "fresh" from espresso. We usually eat a bocadillo (sandwich) and/or a piece of tortilla (egg and potato pie). Sometimes we have a "pain au chocolat" with coffee - luckily we walk this all off pretty quickly!
After our break, we kept ahead of the rain clouds and tried to make it to Torres del Rio. Despite the fact that the way was "easy", we were all tired. Michael, a man from Arizona, noticed a neat private hostel
The Road to Los Arcos
A break from all of the hills ... in Sansol and we decided to grab a room. "Anna", the owner and her husband prepared a wonderful meal, complete with fresh fruit for dessert and finished with a shot of a local aperitif made with anise and a local berry. Our fellow guests included a couple from Colombia.
