Day 34 - Despite waking in the night with really sore legs , slept quite well apart from that .... we left at about 7.30 am, and found breakfast on the way a few km down the road.... The walking was SO much better , it seemed to work having done that v difficult last 8km the day before. There were less people around, time again to ENJOY the areas we were walking through. We saw U.S couple again Jonathon and Lindsay and had a little group whinge about the newer pilgrims...as I write that I know and feel how ungracious it is - to have that manner towards people who after all,are also on their own journey just as I am on mine ... but there you go..... sometimes I'm not nice :-/

I ordered what I thought was going to be slice of the potato based fritata - but somehow ended up with a plate of chips - I have never eaten so many chips as I did in Spain... EVERY day

It was pretty heavy rain we had walked in and started to rain again while we were in the cafe..... Lindsay had left her Backpack sitting outside and it was sure to be soggy when she returned from the loo.. I dont think Jonathon was relishing the idea of breaking the news to her :-) At one point we passed a milking shed and saw in it the years old rustic looking milking still that actually reminded me of a little wooden elephant - see pic !

We ended the days walk at one of the loveliest albergues - in San Xulian.... we were sharing a 7 bed room (with all men) . Did the usual unpack/shower & change then went to sit beside the lovely warm fire for a drink..... The surrounds were very intriguing in the bar/dining area , there were 2 long tables which slowly filled up with arrivals and we ended having a shared pilgrim meal which was really lovely, both the food and the vibe. One of the guys we met was the youngest Cardiologist I swear you would ever see - looked about 22 though he said he was 10 yrs older. Diego was his name and he was sweet and funny. We also chatted with Nora( the snorer apparently) and Sylvia - also a few other guys

It really DOES look like and elephant doesnt it?
who we ended up finishing with in santaigo a few days later - and MAYBE we asked their names... but if so we DEFINITELY forgot them straight away also . It was one of those beautiful pilgrim mealtimes, shared with so many diff people, diff cultures just gathered there for that one moment, that one time.....I was sitting feeling quite teary and Diane noticed - saying 'What's wrong" but there was nothing wrong it was just a perfect moment - and so RIGHT .........However I was REALLY tired and went to bed at about 9-45 - quite a few folk- hardier younger folk ( AND the heavy drinker from Cornwall) stayed up drinking vino - but they were much quieter in the morning....

As we left San Xulian the next day.... there was only about 65km to go....
